Working in IT, I hate fax machines. They're archaic technology, long sense replaced, but try and argue the point to an employee who believes they are the only HIPAA compliant way to sent information to another doctors office. Uhhg. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone print something out to shove it in a fax machine and then shred it, and yes, there's a digital fax printer setup on the network and they know how to use it. Stubborn employees and the lack of management to enforce them to migrate to better technology.

It was pure hell, and I prefer to call them HELLohost.com. In a way, I'm happy they went out of business, the owner was a jerk.

But adding these ad hoc "leap seconds" -- the last one was tacked on in 1998 -- can be a big hassle for computers operating with software programs that never allowed for a 61-second minute, leading to glitches when the extra second passes. "It's a huge deal," said John Yuzdepski...

Umm, so why don't we just make one second every so often last two seconds. Instead of being the 61st second, it would just be 59 seconds past the minute for 2 seconds long. Seems like that wouldn't break stuff, unless you're doing some very time sensitive number crunching.

No kidding? As usual, good ol' /. dupe checking works it's magic! :)

Not to dis Google or anything, but since when is every minuscule innovation on web based portals revolutionary? Endless "betas" and rapid cash burns to develop the next biggest thing is what turned the dot-com boom into a bust. Is Google next? Nah, there's no competition in the search engine market. Hehe.

Sure, people love Google, I love Google, but this stuff is something Yahoo has been doing for 10 years and people are atingle over it like its new technology!? Innovation only leads to more complex interfaces, and the simplicity of Google's very nature will only become bulkier and bloated the more of this "crap" they add. What, links to outside review services just weren't enough? Creature Feep if you ask me.

I would be more inclined to think it's Google's searches that are actually skewed, because they have been perfecting their results for a lot longer and everyone knows the sites worth deserving a top 10 position, run Apache.

How is this censorship, if clearly, Vonage knows the (easy?) fix is just to change ports? It's not like an ISP is going to block all ports, and besides, I believe my Vonage box connects outbound to establish connection, so if my ISP started blocking random outbound ports, I'd find a new ISP. Seriously, is a large ISP really going to do full stateful packet filtering just to stop VOIP at the packet type level. Yeah, right.

Vonage needs to get their head out of the toilet. Although, I certianly believe in free speech and no censorship, it's just sad that ISP's even play games like this. The consumer has no voice anymore. :(

I'm not about to say I've never bought something I've seen advertised, but what I am saying is that sometimes I like to sit down, watch an episode of The Simpsons without hearing about the latest drug that will give me more that I have to cure, or the best female leakage eliminator. Face it, we don't want your advertising rubbish, and the reason Symantec probably added ad blocking, was because they want to sell their software to people like me.
