I currently have an ANS spinal cord stimulator implanted for chronic pain and cannot imagine life without it. For three years before the implant I was on enough methadone and dilaudid to to not only knock a horse out but take most of the farm along with it. My device is about the size of half a pack of cigarettes and is implanted above my right hip. The cable runs up right between my shoulder blades and enters my spine there.
The size and placement of the device does not concern me much but something smaller would be welcome. The batteries are rechargeable with an induction antennae and designed to last about 10 years. I can only hope that by the time I have to think about a replacement something like the devices in this article will be available.
8 surgeries and countless procedures. Drugs of all types with all the side effects and problems that come with them. And in the end a tiny trickle of electric current gives me vastly more relief than anything. I can walk, hold my children and work a normal day again.
Nothing remains the same, evrything changes and so should the content providers. This will only effect the 99.99% of people that legally buy the "premium content", and dont understand why it looks like shit on their screen. As for the other.01% the hack or workaround will only be a google away, and they will happily watch their pirated version.
Neither really, that is just the user base I have to base my experience on. Most of them have four year degrees of one sort or another so I don't believe it is a lack of ability to learn but more a problem of apathy. In my opinion they just dont care. They know that if their machine starts to act wierd that someone will come make it better.
I support a group of almost 100 20 something women that work in the advertising business doing spot radio buys. I can honestly say any of them would happily double click a landmine just to see what happens.
You might not answer yes to that, as you seem to have some common sense. The users I support at work are a different breed, they would glady double click a land-mine just to see what happens.
My wife works for Delta and all the employees are worried about them going bankrupt and losing their jobs. At the same time Delta appears to be spending money hand over fist on the most assinine projects. Why can't they get their business in order before they start playing around with this new crap.
They don't want to be educated. Where I work as an admin I have offered up many lunch hours and weekends to try and teach them the basics of safe computing. Maybe 1 out of 100 responds and then only a handful actually show up.
They are however more than happy to bring in their machines, so horribly infested that only a reinstall is adviseable, compalining that something is wrong with AOL and could I look at it?
I would desperatly love to get more than 7 frames per second during a dogfight in Lock On, Modern Air Combat. And I feel I have a pretty decent system:
P4 2.66 800 FSB, Asus P4P800 Deluxe, Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4600, 2 X 1 gig Corsair Twinx CAS2 running as dual channel, Creative Audigy 2 and two 160 Gig SATA Seagates running as RAID 0.
DirecTV receiver with Tivo can be had currently for $99 at most conusmer electronic stores. I have seen them as low as $69, I a not quite sure what you consider expensive.
a thief. Regardless of how "skilled" they are who cares? All they did was cheat, steal and lie. I really dont get the point of this article, why do we reward criminals?
I cannot speak about the stand alone units but the DirecTV Tivos record the stream exactly as it is sent. I have a 50" toshiba widescreen HDTV monitor and the DirecTV single is quite acceptable on it. You will notice some jagged edges and pixelization where colors change rapidly but I believe that this is mostly as a result of stretching the SDTV single to fit the full screen. The Toshiba has several modes to do this and most look quite good when viewing from the Tivo.
Actually they were purchased by D&M Holdings who recently have released their plans for releasing new boxes. Some of the new features will include the ability to pause a show on one DVR and then got to another network connected DVR and continue where you left off.
"I suggested that consumers pay 1 cent per commercial skipped (which is about the same as what advertisers pay). That would be equivalent to $10/thousand commercials skipped. I think that's reasonable."
I would suggest you bend over and take it up the ass with your 1 cent per commercial skipped. I think that's reasonable.
"This allows you to watch a recorded show and record at the same time. But you cannot watch live and record something else."
Not exactly correct, with the new dual tuner ability of DirecTV Tivo receivers you can: Record two live and watch a recorded, or record one live and watch a second live at the same time. To do this you need a receiver with two tuners in it and a dual LNB dish.
We started getting copies of this about 2 hours ago and already our bandwith is off the scale from normal opps. We dont run outlook and got lucky there, but it is nasty on our systems. It attempts to delete several files and most interestingly Norton AntiVirus itself. The one system I have attempted to clean reinfected as soon as I attempted to reinstall Norton.
Norton had updated there Virus Definition files for download, to catch this one you should be up to 12-4.
I am not sure about the ones in the article, I have not used any yet but we had several, 18 out of 30, of their 36.4 gig drives fail along with attendant raid controllers in all of our servers. They would never come right out and say manufacturing defect but that is what was I felt implied. All of them were from the same batch and all failed within days of eachother. The replacement drives have been just fine for almost a year now. Who knows......?
Timothy you bloddy idiot, what do you call the tax we in the states have now on video tapes, dat tapes, blank CD's etc? IIRC this "tax" goes to the various recording industry folks to be dispersed to the artists who are supposedly being pirated already.
All I hear from people is that drug companies wont have the incentive anymore to make drugs if Brazil does this. Here is an extreme simplification as I see it...
1. Damn the patents, people are suffering and dieng. Do what we can to help and do it now before more die.
2. Respect the, and I dont disagree here, rightful patent of the company that researched and developed this drug and let potential untold masses suffer and die while we negotiate fair terms.
Maybe I have it wrong, and I have a very low opinion of where the collective world is headed but lets give it the benefit of the doubt and pool our resources to battle this plaque with every resource we have, not bicker and fight like greedy children.
Incentive? How about watching someone you love die from this horrible disease because they were too poor to pay for the medicine that might have helped them live.
How much better could this world be but for the loss of those might not have had to die?
Such a rosey view of the world. I wish you were right, the world would be a better place. Money, violence and the corruption that goes along with them are how candidates currently get elected.
Until we quit acting like sheep and decide that we have had enough, nothing will change. We can bitch and whine all we want but nothing will change until we get off our collective asses and do something about it.
I do agree with you about the corporations. Making money is what they are supposed to do. If you dont want to pay for what they sell, dont. Just be aware of the consequences of your own actions and do as you judge proper.
Might want to RTFM again. I have no problem at all printing to Jetdirect boxes or using Samba to the NT printservers from Linux. All in all it took about 5 minutes once I realized sending EOF's was required to get the page to kick out.

Jesus wept! These people make my head hurt.

I gave up on them long ago.
That is fairly typical when running the game with high settings. It is graphically beautiful but is an incredible resource hog.

Thanks for that definition, it finally made sense.
Offhand I would say some sort of NAS, although it might be a small power conditioner. hard to tell from that angle.

the comercial they have linked is rather humerous tho.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!
