but don't forget the promotional costs. In this day of advertising everywhere, there are very few artists that are going to be sold without an all out in your face publicity campaign to let you know that they are out there... especially the new artists. Advertising isn't cheap even when it is cheaply done.
I know that it might not be the 'technically' correct answer, but I've been hearing things like 'cover songs', 're-mixes', 're-interpretations', 'sampling', and so on and so on.
Metallica has 'shared' songs on garage days where they paid a royalty and distributed millions of copies. Dr. Dre shares quite a few things, some of them without permission(there's a lawsuit filed against him now for that song 'contagious')
I'm not trying to bash the artists, I like both of their work, but just thought that I'd offer examples of the two biggest opponents of file sharing.
I concur. It is simply excuses. It's not like he was selling all that many records until he hit that 'every song in a commercial' success that he had with his last album. I'm not a Moby fan, but my guess is that if there's another video with Gwen Stefani in it, his sales will climb up a bit.
Another thought is that perhaps more people like Eminem and are avoiding Moby because in the first single from Eminem's album he says mean things about Moby. Kiddies aren't going to go against somebody that cool ...this week.
They had a brief encounter 10 years ago, she was a pretty girl, he was 9 years old. Suddenly 10 years later, after a brief meeting, and his raging hormones, they're in love? psh.
It worked in Braveheart. A young girl comforts a boy before he was yanked from home after his father died. Later that act of kindness becomes a love that brought about William Wallace's assault on England.
Pretty much the same thing in EP II. Two young people share a very emotionally intense event (Trade Federation Blockade/Saving Naboo) and when separated they form a love based upon the romanticized image that was created during that time. I will admit that it's easier to see how Anakin can fall deeply for a very strong somewhat older woman, but it doesn't seem so far fetched that Amidala would fall for one of the only males of her age bracket(being amongst the politicians didn't provide much in the way of peer group) that happened to have a flair for saving her (lovely)ass.
I can't help but feel that somehow the transformation to Vader is made all the more dramatic by making Anakin obnoxiously good in the first episode. I'm cheering for Anakin to become Vader. I grinned that stupid grin at several points in EP II... to see what was once so overwhelmingly and mindlessly(it seems) good begin to give in to his hate. Would I be so impressed if Anakin had been more like the 'cool' kid that was subdued and relaxed... maybe not.
All the jar jar haters should love life after this movie. Not just for his lack of appearance, but he makes the most of his opportunity.
I really liked this film. I'll give myself over to it. I'll allow my imagination to run wild and try to write my own story for episode III. God I love this stuff.
Enjoy this film.
I'm a geek too, so I think that rolling my own desktop would be a great thrill, especially if I could make them linux boxen, but I also know that rolling your own is a huge investment in time that you might not be able to afford... unless you get overtime pay. Good Luck. Hope that you build them.
but rather a collection of data that follows a DVD format. Read it through a text editor and it's garbage. Simply a stimulus/input for a certain program or hardware response. Think language... I know English, so my brain can process it and understand an english speaker. I don't know Chinese, so it might all be nonsense to me, but that nonsense might at times sound like English so I can process it, but not be correct in the interpretation.
I downloaded it a couple of days ago ...
on
Winamp Alpha for Linux
·
· Score: 5, Informative
and alpha is a very good way to describe the results thus far. The player plays well, and will handle their streams, however there was no way to add anything but files. It seemed to me that it ran very slowly, and affected the performance of the other apps on the machine(a Dell laptop 850MHZ/256MBRAM) quite a bit. These are alpha kind of things, and by no means did I do a thorough evaluation. I am truly excited about this product coming to Linux as evidenced by my nearly immediate download, although it will be very difficult to get me away from all of my presets in xmms... but I'll be playing with it.
I live less than a mile from the Pentagon. Not in Crystal City, but south and west of the pentagon. The actual road is Columbia Pike, just past the Washington Blvd overpass. The plane that headed for the Pentagon passed just over my apartment building. I was sleeping late as I was waiting for building maintenence and was woken by the sound of an extremely low flying jet engine. My stomach turned. I knew something had gone terribly wrong, but when my radio came on to wake me up(all within 60 seconds) they only detailed the New York attack. I went outside to see what caused my loud noise. I never heard the crash, but I saw the smoke. For the next 7 hours I sat glued to my TV, in a state of suspended disbelief. I feel sick now... some 15 hours later.
I really don't understand how myself or my roommate, both of whom met in the living room to exchange a 'Did you hear that?!' before heading outside, did not hear the explosion. But we've both heard the sirens. All day long.
May those in danger be saved.
May those that died and their families find peace.
May those responsible receive justice,
in this life or the next.
With all due respect, counterstrikes occur against those that struck you. Attacking civilian targets is deplorable, cowardly, etc. If these actions are not considered an act of war, than an act of serial murder on American soil. Those responsible should be punished either militarily for the Pentagon attack or through the American judicial system for the World Trade Center.
As for the original plea for peace, bullies and cowards, one in the same show there true colors when the tables are turned. Those that cheer the this country's hardship as victory need to feel the fear that they would impose upon us, so that they do not perform the same actions. Perhaps it is an endless cycle, but only because those that have been shown mercy mistake it for weakness.

Why not include the script command in root's bashrc and name the file name the date and time of the login, or whatever other information that you would want in the name? Put it on some special filesystem and then all is good.
Just a thought?
join my class action law suit to sue chevy. They guy that robbed that bank a few days ago drove one and I'm sure that entitles me to more money than the thief can give back.
Seriously. I hope this gets laughed out of court, if not by the judge, the jury come verdict/damage assessment time.
how this differs from anything that they do now. The deals that they have in place with re-sellers of computers put their newest software on the new hardware, and they change the file formats of each new version of their applications. So when Joe User with the new computer writes something in Word, he either through innocent omission or active ignorance saves in the new format causing problems for all of the others, who are forced to upgrade their application suite or even OS at prices that are so staggering it actually becomes cheaper to purchase a new machine with the software bundled on it.
Maybe this strategy is simply putting into words what they already do, so the IT managers can't refer to it as a MicroScam anymore.
I've been, what should we call it... big boned seems appropriate. I've recently started to lose some pounds and while I'm a bit of an extreme case, I've found that the George Foreman grill is the best thing to cook on if you have access to one. For $25 I have something that will cook food in 10 minutes, help pull some of the excess fat away and as a plus it doesn't heat up the entire apartment as the oven. All this, and knocking out Soda for water, and embracing the leafy foods, instead of the fried... but don't kid yourself. Give yourself one day of your old/bad habits a week so you don't lose your mind.
I have to concur with the first gentleman that suggested Euler's formula.Euler himself said that it was proof of the existence of god/ a god. So not only is it mathematical, it's spiritual, and in some odd way tribal.
Most computers don't have External power supplies because they are Inside the case. This makes them Internal.
Glad I could help,
Seriously though, I don't think the components care where the power comes from, just as long as it gets it. They are most likely placed there because ideally computers should be self contained boxes... who wants things dangling from them? Just a thought.
Yeah. In civilized countries with few people owning guns there are less shootings in schools, but plenty of people willing to strap homemade bombs on and hop a plane, or wander about the city til they find a nice shady spot to detonate.
6 on one, half dozen on the other. Guns have just been hollywood-ized as the great equalizer in America through movies. That's why they are the tool of choice for these wackos. Without guns, they'd make bombs, or run people down with cars, or stab their parents, suffocate someone as they slept, or use poison,... ad infinitum.
"The truth is, many more kids kill themselves then others,... ".
Of course Ashcroft doesn't want to acknowledge this fact. This would bring down his entire religious belief system. Anybody who can kill others after they have killed themselves would be stepping on God's toes... unless they were aligned with Satan, in such case the ethic of violence would make sense.
It's a common mistake, most likely a typ-o, should have been than instead of then. But it sure does conjure up a funny image of ghosts wandering through the halls with shotguns.
Put access for laptops in a geek restaraunt or something, but a bar is supposed to be a place to get away from work and for some kind of social interaction. If you're looking for a place to plugin a laptop and send messages, it just seems to miss the point. The bar should harness technology for entertainment and/or comfort not just be a comfortable cubicle.
I concur with the notion of booths that harness technology. Maybe wall mounted tv screens so that whatever you want to see could be on. A touch pad screen to manage a jukebox for the booth, like those old time jukeboxes in diners. Then some text pagers for booth intercommunication or order placement.
Lots of comfortable chairs, lounge style with arm tables and that text pager for orders. A small common area that can be used for gathering, or maybe even dancing if the mood strikes. A big thing would be space. Crammed into cubicles, crammed into bars... that ain't cool. This should be a place to get away from the norms and play.
There should probably be foosball and pinball, if space provides, arcade style deathmatch area. 4-8 people, 20 frags, winner stays, nobody pays to play, just wait your turn.
You want the place to be techno-centric, not techie-centric. Techno-centric allows all other people to visit and affords the geek a chance to be seen in an environment comfortable to him/her without the pager or problem to solve. Techie-centric is just like work. Might as well hand everybody task list, let 'em leave when they're done... but let 'em drink stuff while they're working.
