Why do you want to give up that fancy car of yours for? Why do you want to give up your freedom? By voting for Gore, you are voting for an environmental goof ball who thinks that the internal combustion engine should be outlawed. And if he can't do that, then he'll overtax gasoline so that no one can afford it. But of course he is special so he'll still travel in his gas powered limos, with a bunch of 4X4's, motorcycles, and police cars to get to the airport to fly on a jet, all spewing the pollutants that he so objects too.

Also, he will take away our rights to own guns. But don't worry, his calvary of secret service guys will have guns to protect him. If he wants guns gone so badly, he should not allow those around him to own or use them. Lead by example.

And please, when posting news, don't editorialize. It just baits those that like to cause you trouble. It makes you look like the lead troll around here.

I think we should support the people of Serbia and the --Yugoslavia, as they call Serbia plus Montenegro, and put pressure in every way possible to recognize the lawful outcome of the election.

Now the above is from Gore himself during one of the debates. If you change Serbia to USA, Milosevic to Gore, and Kostunica to Bush, doesn't this sound like Gore is doing excatly what Milosevic had done? The lawful outcome of the election has come to pass, so Gore should be a man, admit that he has lost, and support our new President, George W. Bush.

I took a stand at school in my english class. The teacher wanted us to study bible stories as literature. I had no problem with this. What I did have a problem with was that we "only" had one week for this. By Wednesday we had done all old testament stories. I asked when we would get to the new testament. I was told was we didn't have time for those stories. After discussing this a bit I asked his religion. He is Jewish. This is where my problem came into play. After about five more minutes of discussion I was sent to the prinipal's office for disrupting the class. After missing two more classes over this I was sent back to class.

The next day our teacher said that that portion of our class would end (looking dead at me) due to a student's complaint. Later that year I got a 0 on my term paper becouse "it wasn't turned in". This was after getting the three students in front of me to confirm that it had been passed up. I made them note that it was in the pile due to concerns I had that the teacher disliked me.

I wound up in summer school that year for failing english.

My point after all of that. If you are going to take a stand, you have to be prepared for the consiquences.

CmdrTaco and Hemos like doing what they are doing but are sick of getting bashed at every turn. Well while I don't think they should be bashed as much as they are, I see where it comes from. Slashdot has changed from what it started out as. Those that have been around for years have one idea of what Slashdot should be. The new comers have a different idea of what Slashdot is.

So people have a few choices.

    1. Make a site to be what you want it to be. If you like the look and feel of Slashdot, use Slashcode. If you don't, make your own.

    2. Make suggestions. If they are good and possible, they will be implemented. If they are not implemented, see #1. "taco is a fag" is not a suggestion.

    3. Accept what Slashdot is. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to type http://slashdot.org. Find somewhere else that has what you want or see #1.

    4. Don't bash the guys for being succusful. They worked hard for what they got. We helped alot but with them making donations to EFF and the like, I think that is thier payback to us.

Now taking my own advice on #2, I would like to suggest a complaint section on Slashdot. Now the first thing that will happen to it will be abuse. This can be handled by moderation down to -1. Maybe come up with a script to delete 0's and -1's once a week or something, and others after 1 month. That way everone has time to view what is posted there, at whatever moderation level, and we can comment on them. Taco, Hemos and the rest can see what is being said and the arguments for and against. Maybe we can change thier minds on some things.

When a server goes down(in smaller operations), everyone stops working until we get it fixed. This is a serious problem for the company.

With the projects management puts on us, it is generally due to unrealistic goals that we burn ourselves out over it. There are two basic situations:

    1. Management says this has to be done by this date. They dont' realize it is not realisticly possible becouse we don't tell them. We just say okay, no problem. Then we take it as a personal challenge to meet thier unrealistic goal.

    2. Management says get this done by this date and we do becouse we have a family to take care of.

While it has not been a long time since, we have seen them pulling us in and listening when they make decisions. Also, they have been "forcing" us out the door at reasonable times to have time with our family and friends. I have already heard comments that we don't seem as disgruntled now as we did before.
