    Great. Track housing and industrial parks from here to the moon. That mission statement seems kind of vague. Will we have new phases of the moon as viewed from earth? full moon, new moon, half behind the McDonalds billboard moon..

    Why would you want to hardware hack this thing? (other than the challenge).. Cant you get a 266 with 64 megs of ram for less than $200us? The other devices were sold at a lower price than the hardware, because they intend to make money on selling services..

    Apparently the MP Mac's were ready for market with the G3, but Apple delayed the release due to concerns of legal hassles with the RIAA. And its a shame because it would be great to see a large company like apple actively supporting MPG3..

    Hmm..
    In a way I almost feel sad for the RIAA.. They can shut down Napster, they can crush MP3.com, but this genie is never going back into the bottle. Things have changed.. It will be more and more difficult for the existing structure of music distribution to survive. Why would I pay for a company to print thousands of CD's, Physically ship them around the world, and store them on racks, when I can now listen to music directly from an artist on the other side of the world?
    Short of shutting down the transfer of data, how can they avoid the inevitable? Who will they sue to shut down email?

    What a coincidence!
    I just finished mapping the entire human genome as well.. about a week ago.. I did it by copying web-pages about the genome and running them through the askjesus site.
    I hadn't got around to letting anyone know yet, because I've been busy mowing the lawn, but I will defend my patents with great zeal!

    Yee..

    scary stuff, especially the "Tumors big as grapefruits" thing.. I know they use some pretty vicious chemicals to make all these neat things for me, but what about the side effects of using them? Off-gassing, EMF, Etc. etc..

    Any funding availiable for a study on the AC's that sit 18 hours a day in a 5 foot cubical filled with blinking lights, Electrical outlets all around them, habitually reloading slashdot to get the "first post!"??

    When are we going to start standing up and taking responsibility for the actions of others? I mean, really, think about how much dangerous and obscene information must be flowing through email every day.. What excuse do the ISP's have? Its not like they lack the technology to examine every message and track every net user.. Lets keep the net safe!

    On a related topic, I really must insist that the US postal service start opening every letter and examining the contents for objectional material.

    Come on people! we're racing head-long into a dangerous time where everyone might have to start taking personal responsibility for their own actions.. Isn't that what government is for?

    What I meant to say (before the snotty part of my brain leapt onto the keyboard) is this..

    This is very cool. Once I turned off that midi song and finished reading the page, I was glad to see that they are producing and selling this kit for cost.

    Yeah yeah.. there are those of you that will ask why they aren't using an ARM processor and whatnot, but as a kit for beginners this is pretty cool... Someone new to robotics could develop a very good understanding of robotics and use this as a basis to understand their knowledge..

    Honest. Thats what I meant to say.

    Dig That Music!
    I've set that page as my home page. I just groove on that midi music.. I listen to it all day long as I work.

    I next plan to record a loop of that midi to tape, throw it in a walkman with an FM transmitter, and hide cheap FM tuners around town..

    THEN, As I walk around town I will hear that midi song eminating from heat vents, gutters, etc. and can share the joy with my fellow humans..

    I'm not sure any corporation is 'pro' or 'anti' anything that doesn't relate directly to their business. If this happened right after Columbine, don't you think its possible they were not 'for' or 'against' guns, but more likely spooked by negative publicity? IIRC- the media made a big deal that the psychokids had websites and spent a lot of time online..

    This is just an off-topic thought..

    What about all those names that become availiable when someone doesn't renew? ..What if someone were to rig up a script that checked a list of 'desireable' domain names and alerted the desiree when they became availiable.. You could rig it to page you on your wireless palm when one popped up.. does something like this exist?

    Funky hack for all those potential squatters..

    I'm glad to see that someone is looking after our children.. Just keep em away from information about sex, chess and PopeAliens..

    (this is why I LOVE closed source filter software.. Why wouldnt a large corporation have your best interest at heart.)

    I think its worth opening up the case and tweeking.. I love my Pilot, and can't imagine changing batteries or recharging daily..

    Unless MS/HP/Compaq et all can get the battery problem and the interface worked out, I'll wait and see what the new palm with ARM processor looks like..

    Ah.. I was a bit worried there that the MS machines may be getting an advantage over the palms.. Glad to see they are moving on to a faster processor.. And if they can drop the price on wireless access (so I'm not paying big money to recieve spam) I'm replacing my old pilot.

    Hm.. I've got K6II's and III's of all different speeds in homebuilt systems, and had no compatibility problems of ANY kind.. Even old DOS games you mentioned..

    I also have a few Compaq machines at work with PII's and they give me CONSTANT problems.. (only 2 sim slots, Minimal PCI slots, Motherboard IRQ errors.. GAaa.. I have not had good experiences with compaq and their proprietary hacks.
