    but I think this is all a case of sloppy journalism.

    I RTFA even though I steer clear of blogs... but what I didn't find was information on whether those boxes had the most recent updates on them.

    If they were connected to the net or had an ISO down loaded for OS installation I would say yes they were updated. If they were all updated then yes this is something that needs to be addressed as soon as possible...

    I do not find it hard to believe that an Unbutu box is still standing and I am rather disappointed if the Mac really did get owned. But I have a damn hard time believing that a Windows box is still standing... unless something else was done to it to make it more hardened.

    The Hobbit is being split into two movies.
    There are two things going for this idea.

    1 - You do not water down the story as much when you have more screen time to work with.

    2 - The LOTR has proven that people will clamor to watch a second part if the first was awesome. Thus more profit!

    This is a fascinating concept.
    Theoretically it could bring about savings in cost for certain types of food.
    Closer to a store means less fuel for shipping, less electricity for refrigeration, etc.
    The issue with sun light in a multi tiered structure is not insurmountable.
    Perhaps solar collectors on the roof with fiber optics feeding sun light directly into the areas that need the light.

    The areas can be enclosed to keep harmful insects out. Result: less pesticides.
    You can keep honey bees in each section to help with pollination and also keep the bees safe as they have been disappearing as of late.

    Much good can come from this.

    However, I expect resistance from various lobbying groups.
    Shipping industry, chemical manufacturers, other farmers who like getting subsidies, etc. Anyone whose piece of the pie might be at risk with this kind of endeavor.

    You should know that ANY change to an OS constitutes a requirement for a new certification. Especially if a new "security module" is the core feature.

    Just saying linux has been certified is just as silly. Which flavor?
    There are STIG's for Debian, RH and few other flavors. But this is a new product. Also any changes to an existing product will require another STIG.

    The kind of generalization from you sounds like something I'd hear from DISA.

    NIAP certification is a good first step if they want to get into the DoD world.
    It's a BIG first step. But there are others... FIPS for one. I wonder who will be working the ST&E on this OS. DoD? IntCom?
    Also the amoeba like reach of DISA will have to be dealt with. They like their Windows(BOO!) and Solaris(Yay!). They are not too receptive to "new" things.
    Perhaps it's biggest hurdle is not certifications... it's the in fighting among gov't organizations.

    That they threw in a half-hearted caveat to their 'review'?

    A review is expected to be done with objectivity and comparisons are expected to be done on a even basis. You actually think this is objective?

    There are professional ways for examining a Beta. This is not an example of it. This is more like an axe to grind type issue.

    Again, if you need something of a rebuttal look at their past 'reviews' in relation to Apple products.

    What a surprise.

    A lack luster review of an Apple product from Ars Technica.
    Even when a product has no glaring faults they just cannot bring themselves to say anything positive about it. Just look at their past reviews if you need proof.

    But here we have a review about a Beta product and comparing it to Finals. Then complain about issues that are often a by product of being a Beta. That's objective.

    By the by, I use both Firefox AND Safari. I enjoy the use of both products.

    Would not the group of players who have been accused of being in on the cheating be the ones most likely the ones who will be voted in? From what I read they are very large in numbers and hold vast resources.

    How about outright fraud will tallying the votes?

    I do not play this game. But from all that I have read there is an inherent issue of reduced credibility.

    What gets me is how CCP can have this much of an issue with cheating? I have never played an online game where this was such a problem.

    I will have to disagree with your opinion.
    I am not saying you are wrong but there is a different angle here.

    You can get better items then what is crafted if you Raid often.
    I have a Blacksmith who made most of his own equipment and they were great! He is 60th and he STILL uses what he made. Why? Because he does not Raid often.

    So people like me the Crafting system is fantastic.

    Oh - and rereading the review - it appears the reviewer's "biggest complaint" was the lack of keyboard. That's what seperates a tablet from a tiny laptop retard

    And maybe that is really the problem. The industry keeps pushing tablets and no one really wants one.

    Nokia's 770 platform is only just starting. The 770 is available for retail sale, but not really intended for the general public.

    This is just funny. If it is Retail then it is for the General public. So Nokia will have to deal with negative response. Nokia does not make cool hardware anymore. They make blunders. If you need convincing look at both N-Gage designs.

    Not sure why you were modded up. You give no real reasons to support your weak argument. If people needed to use Windows because of work and games. They should get a regular PC with Windows on it. Why spend all that money on something if you do not want to use it for what it was designed, running OSX?

    If you are a regualr Mac user with a streak of Hacker then trying to get WinXP running on your Mac makes perfect sense as you are doing it to see it can be done.

    So I have no problem believing that the Communist government of China would force anyone into saying something. I also have no trouble believing that this group and this farce was supported by the State.

    All the hubbub is not mudslinging. It's fact. Ask a Tibetian about how benign this government is. Ask the Heroes of Tiananmen Square Democracy movement how distressing it is that the State is getting a bad rap.

    And your point about evil government: Yes, the Communist government of China is systematically evil. The Democratic government of the USA is far from perfect and has had a checkered past. But the bottom line the US's past behavior does not lessen the crimes commited against millions by the Communist government of China.

    However, in the iTMS + iPod world, these are two separate products that each have a strongly dominant hold on their respective markets, which also monopolistically exclude all competition from functioning with either product. I say it's about time someone looked at this case. How many /.ers have friends who bought a non-iPod mp3 player only to find out that none of their Fairplay-encrypted songs will play on it? How many /.ers have iPods that they wish could use Napster or a competing music store to purchase songs with different rights or improved quality?

    Are you being serious? Anyone who claims to be a Slashdotter cannot seriously claim that they had no idea songs purchased from iTunes will not work on a non-iPod or that songs purchased on Napster will not work on iPod. I call serious BS here.

    This sounds like a severe case of sour grapes.

    This is not a monopoly. There are competitors out there. A lot of them. They blow chunks when compared to iTunes in my opinion but they are out there.

    This lawsuite is without merit. I would be keen to findout who is bank rolling this FUD.

    More like crying wolf. I saw nothing concrete there. No technical information. Nothing. It's FUD by the virus software companies or by someone who wants to look like a genius.

    Also I have not seen or heard of one instance where this has happend.
    If someone presents me with something that is not theoretical but factual then I will be the first to admit that I am mistaken.

    Amazing. I have played the old game. Before there was an Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.

    So I realize how retarded your statement actually is. A Dungeon Master controls the interaction of NPC's and monsters with the player as well as "write" the story. A computer game has all that taken care of already. Including a MMORPG. So you cannot effectivly solo in a PnP game. But you can in a computer based game.

    I have bumped into enough folks who seems to be awefully impressed with their own opinions. People can play a game anyway that they want. If the game doesn't match then they leave. Simple. The parent post only made an observation that is relevent to folks who view games the same way. Then we have self absorbed types getting all riled up.

    To get bent out of shape over someone's opinion is sheer idiocy.
