  1. Honestly, on Super Mario, Civ IV, Katamari Hands-On Impressions · · Score: 2, Insightful

I don't see how a 3D engine will help Civ. Unless they change the gameplay significantly I can only imagine it will detract from the game. For a turn based strategy game like Civ you need to be able to assess the board as a whole easily, this is best done with flat 2D, unless of course the 3D aspects of the terrain become that much more important.

  2. Delighted to read the review? on Ebert Gives 'Sith' Positive Review · · Score: 1

Who are you? George Lucas? I could give a crap about whether a review is good or bad until I see the movie. You see if the movie turns out to be good then I am delighted the review steered me to a film I enjoyed, if not then I am angry at the review for steering me to crap.

I am never delighted by a review for a movie I haven't seen. Particularly when its 3.5 stars yet says that the dialogue is as bad as the dialogue in Clones. Clones was so terrible if I had been in a theater (saw it free on TV) I would have probably left and asked for a refund.

  4. Content Delivery on XBox 360 Redefining the Console? · · Score: 3, Insightful

people see marketing-speak like "content delivery" and see right through it. I've seen dozens of ideas and products promising total home content delivery services, it basically is another way to charge for something you don't want or already have/can get.

This generation will be won the way all the others were won, games. people buy consoles because they want consoles. I personally only have a gamecube from the current gen ) first to go to 99$ :) so I am not the best predictor, but with that caveat I will say at least in the US if MS can deliver on the games it will be an interresting fight for sony to keep the mindshare. Nintendo is pretty much pigeonholed as a "kiddy" system unless they come out of the box with something really stunning .

Or, is slashdot getting a cut from Lucas? - I have to assume a site like howstuffworks (although I am only amrginally familiar) wouldn't allow a fictional description without some advertisement compensation.

Don't they realize that Google became the top search engine because the results were good? If they mess with results then people won't use MSN Search, and then the bias won't have the desired effect on web hosts. Its really a win-win for the anti-MS crowd that they do this.

My wife being a daycare worker was not very surprised.

BUT- I still think that it is that degenerate parents right to allow her child to consume material which I deem inapropriate. So I just fired off a letter to Senator Clinton saying in no uncertain terms that I will cease to be a strong supporter and caste my vote elsewhere next time if this keeps up, and dont worry I grammer/spell checked that email :)
