Having been a programmer now for ~10 years or so. I started off not caring about math that much (aside from a little geometry to draw custom controls). I was making $45k a year and most of my programming time was doing web development (database, basic logic, front end HTML etc). Tying records with class objects via auto incrementing ID's and massive JOIN statements.
However, I started getting into 3d programming and multitouch applications and found the more math you know, the more versatile your UI's and windows can become. I recently finished up a product called Glo (globible.com) and found we couldn't have done ANY of that without advanced math knowledge. Now I make twice as much as I was making doing web back ends and I owe it all to mathmatics.
When interviewing software programmers, anyone who hasn't had a little trig gets a good kick towards the door.
We all know radio.... they talk for a few moments, then play some jams.... many jockeys chit chat or check email and such during the songs. Since this kid lives above a strip club, he's probably playing mix fm for them to dance to while he's jockeying. I would have those chicks from the strip club come up and do a "private" dance for me during tracks.
or at least until the rumored Apple Tablet debuts (if ever, I'm still not holding my breath). Some say they are trying to turn it into an e-reader style tablet for publishers. My take is if I want a versatile ebook reader, I'll just buy a netbook for the same price as a kindle. Up yours Adobe and Amazon!
Odds are a judge will look at this ruling as precedence. Most judges do as that's how "law" has evolved. Problem now is, how does Tenenbaum get an appeal?
I'll admit to sucking up gb's of data gaming. It's interesting to see their research. I know a lot of my coworkers probably suck up over a gb a day in facebook alone. Ohh facebook, how you consume idle time.....
I'm tired of paying $60 for an incomplete game, then have to fork over another $20 for DLC to make it complete. I'm tired of spending $8/mo just so I can play with others online. I'm tired of game companies "not getting it" when it comes to pirates. Want to stop the pirates? Make games cheaper and feature complete, assholes.
This is almost as ambiguous as it gets. When will patent office learn they can't issue patents for broad terms that the company has no EVIDENCE of a working system.... That's like me getting a patent for "Grounding objects to make a different state object" (You can easily turn that into a million different scenarios).
yeah... like as if you really need an excuse. If you are thinking of committing suicide, odds are the movie isn't the reason why you have those thoughts. I say, since so many people are becoming dumber, let 'em rid the world of ignorance and stupidity.
if information is displayed through some sort of optical display contact lens, wouldn't it be augmented reality? This prototype would have to evolve into what we already have seen done before. Like I said before, it's a nice concept, just I don't see this thing coming to market. Augmented Reality is more of a... reality.
don't worry, slashdot is full of jerks.
But seriously, I fail to realize how a projected system like this is at all useful considering augmented reality and all. I mean, if two people using augmented reality were looking at an article on a table top, they wouldn't be blinding others by doing so. Last thing I need is the UPS guy showing up at my door shooting 2500 lumens into my eyeballs.
I mean, the tech is cool, don't get me wrong. Having dealt with multitouch for some years now I get it. But seriously, would anyone want to strap on a backpack, attach a bunch of gizmos to his chest, tape colors to his fingers, only to display PRE-PROGRAMMED information? I mean, the video of him is all marketing gimmick. A preloaded video of Barack Obama on the newspaper, clever bit of camera trickery. I don't see this gaining traction anymore than those wearable computers with the little lcd screen in your eye glasses. I would rather have a system that uses Augmented Reality. This "contraption" was deemed open source by it's creator because it's creator knows no one is willing to fork over the cash to bring this to market because it's a terrible concept.
I don't want my desktop invaded by ads. It's bad enough I have to sit through 30 seconds of ads when watching hulu videos or even sometimes youtube videos. Who ever came up with this idea needs a good 'ol shot in the face.

He wants to build another business on MySQL and force Oracle into letting him do it.
This is greed masquerading as virtue.
took the words right out of my mouth...

i truely hope so, this case has been jaded from the start.

EA actually caring about their developers and artists... That's even funnier!

I use Drupal 6 on a multi-site setup, it's awesome. One codebase, many web sites. I wouldn't have a job without it.

Now if he comes out with Augmented Reality that recognizes gestures infront of you then sure. Awesome. Everyone wants that minority report type NUI.

I beat my kids to death because I have an aggression gene. It's not my fault, but my families breeding habits at work.
since he was demoted, wouldn't that put him back to where he was at?
