If a media center made 20 million over the last year, (and presumably similar figures the previous 2 years) then it should have sold for no less then 60 million. Someone needed the cash!

"Would characterize dividend as not being safe because it is merely a function of income that the company generates on a quarterly basis. It goes up and down depending on whether they are capitalizing any deals. This quarter will probably have a very nice dividend because they just sold a position in Alliance Boots to Walgreens. Trades at a very reasonable price."
In other news godaddy is still having problems. They weren't relaying emails from a website I have with them, I complained and the whole godaddy went down. Maybe I caused it? Am I anonymous?
They would relay emails to my gmail address, but not to my local ISP.
It gives the little old men and ladies a nice part time job for a while, and good times are had by all. I used to think that computer voting would be better but now that I've seen it in action, I'm glad we stuck to hand counting. Also it's fun watching the result get tallied, it's not instant so there is some buildup/drama.
The problem is that it's telco's that are required to retain the info for 2 years. If you've worked at any ISP you know that anyone with any access can look at anything. So suppose your significant other got scammed into buying diamond earrings, and thinking that it was a secure website, posted all her delivery info and credit card info. You've got 2 years of possible problems. So suppose you get into a rant about some silly online argument with ImATroll and then the guy who's name is ImATroll is murdered. Who in the last two years had problems with him. So suppose you supported the liberal cause last year, but this year they are being stupid. Expect plenty of phone calls and emails asking for your continued support....
Yeah the examples are silly and off the cuff, but you get the idea.
Surely there is SOMEONE in Australia that objects to this? Surely there is at least ONE politician that sees how wrong it is to effectively wiretap a whole country. I'm just shaking my head, and please don't call me Surely.
This tech is worrisome, and awesome. It's awesome because it will help with all sorts of diseases, It's worrisome because it can be hacked.
In the future viruses will be more serious. Imagine getting an email stating that your heart now has a new virus, please send $1000 to a numbered account or you will have a heart attack. And of course when you open the email, your heart starts pumping faster.... was it because of the virus or the possible virus.
After looking up skeuomorphic and realizing that it meant current designs that reflect the original designs where the current design is cosmetic, and the original was practical I realized that this is a very stupid article.
Apple is progressively moving towards fewer and fewer button. Windows are doing their windows 8 thing. Ubuntu was a 1 hour try before giving up on their unity interface. Kde is still my favourite. (It's like the Rolls Royce of UI IMHO) Gnome is the kid who never get's used but always gets installed.
What does this have to do with maintaining cosmetic designs I have no idea. I think the guy picked a word out of a hat in order to get a link to postman deliver aps spot on the front page. Good job...
The best use of classes is to organize code. So from the summary I would say that it is a smart move to be able to organize the code in a way that makes it more readable. You don't have to use all the ugly parts of C++ in order to get some benefit from it. Just stay away from boost/templates and it will be fine.
High-frequency automated trading are destroying the stockmarket. With transactions on a stock happening at thousands of times a second, when things go bad they go bad very quickly. When things go well, the normal trader gets reamed.
IMHO High-frequency automated trading should be outlawed, stocks should be bought and sold at a rate comparable to human interaction. Say 1 per second. Then if things go bad, it goes bad over the course of a day and people can react. Brokers normally buy and sell bulk amounts of stock, so this would be no different. It would level the playing field, and put the normal investor at less of a disadvantage compared to the big companies. If a stock is particularly hot, then some trades won't get made by the end of the day. This is in other words reverting to the stock market of old, where the market could be looked at, and expected to stay the same over the course of a minute.
The reason making games is a good way to learn, is that it allows you to be creative, and try things out. There are plenty of examples to learn from. I agree, doing a graphics game probably isn't the best, unless you really want to. The reason I suggested making a game is that it is the sort of project that can capture you. When you are learning a new field, that is a good thing.
I remember reading this short story when I was a kid and it stuck with me. It's written in cold war era, and reflects the worry of nuclear bombs being dropped. The story is basically about a robot standing at the front of an amusement park, trying to entice people to come in. Unfortunately as the story goes on, you realize that there is something wrong. At the end you realize that the bombs have dropped, and there is nobody around to go into the park. The robot is talking to itself, because everyone is dead.
I wasn't sure anyone would get the reference. You must live in southern Ontario or perhaps Michigan.
I see, hadn't thought about which finger to put the ring on, but you've made it so clear.
So I says to the guy ... That's when I lost it!!!
"Hey, turn that music up!"
A Ring would be so much better. One ring to rule all my appliances,
Missed that it was revenue not profit, ignore my comment :)

Voting as entertainment and job market. :)

Wish I had moderator points. THAT was insightful!
Looking at stockchase it looks like Best Buy is pinging between don't buy and top pick. Their price also has been pinging between 16 and 18 dollars.
So did the PS3, until they killed the Linux use of it. Now it is only Sony blackbox hardware. I'll never buy from Sony again!

Also, XBMC is great, and a ~$100 media center? Sign me up!
Exactly. Also because it's Android based, I can program for it myself.
I'm not a gamer, but even I saw the potential in this.

Thanks for this.I agree on all points. Sinko is a modern day hero.
