Of course not. But we most likely are pushing the change to be much faster than usual, to the point where ecosystems won't be able to adapt fast enough. And that's will have all sorts of consequences to humans as well.
it is too late to do anything
Perhaps it's too late to avoid big changes. But why allow ourselves to make matters worse? Now that we know that there's a problem, we can try to lessen the impact.
We should work as hard as possible to increase human technology so make the blows softer.
I agree.
The AGW crowd is working against that.
There are extremists of all kinds. Extremists are usually loud and seldom sensible. Try to ignore them.
However, in my experience, most of the "AGW crowd" are everyday sensible people. Basically, people who accept that there's a problem and are prepared to adapt (to a greater or lesser degree).
Probably 'cos rich people can often afford to make their scams legal and poor people can't? Alas, that applies to all economic systems that I'm aware of.
Think of RDBMS as a van and NoSQL as a dune buggy.
Each has its advantages. Travelling by buggy might be speedier, but transporting a dozen people by van might be more efficient (different forms of faster). This is because a van has greater scalability than a buggy. Also, a van is more flexible in that it can transport a variety of cargo/passengers. The high speeds in a buggy going off road can also be a disadvantage, compared to the relative safety of driving on roads following the many traffic rules. That said, a buggy isn't restricted to driving on roads as is a van.
Disclaimer: I might have got some of the analogies the wrong way around, 'cos I'm not as clued up about NoSQL as GP.
See what all that higher security allows to do. Maybe one day we'll even be able to take with us alcohol and toothpaste and more, and still be more secure than ever before.
Isn't that swell, guys?
Note to the humour impaired: This is extreme sarcasm!!!
This is probably a very silly question, but could this be used to create artificial growths on bones? Say someone wanted horns, could they have such bone putty put onto the skull to grow extra bone there? That would then be a sort of bone tattoo.
If it was only about warmer weather, then that would be fine. Unfortunately, warmer leads to more violent weather, with all the consequences that will flow from that.
So, I'd rather put up with a hypocritical elite, which really is little more than an annoyance compared to the big disasters that we can expect.
That's why elves are always so much more advanced than humans, they live so much longer. What humans see as elven magic is actually advanced science and technology.
...and if/when that happens, how will the rest of the industrialised world cope, given how much is currently invested in China? Sure, we'll adapt, but how after long and how much pain?
Even the disconnect is not new, given all the ancient stories about noble knights and great warriors. It seems the only thing that differs is the new media used to transmit the stories.
But maybe, just maybe, we'll start getting enough horrific real life footage to start wearing down that disconnect.
+ Informative. Still, at least they're dead. It's when the living are treated that way that it gets horribly disturbing. I don't know if many of us could sleep if we saw atrocities against the living.
I don't know what is better... Knowing so we can try to help (but can we really?), or not knowing so we can live in relative bliss.
Either way, it's good to know that humans are so socially evolved. <sarcasm>
Here's something worth knowing, that I only found out about recently but that is not publicised...
We need to educate people into using ergonomic gaming postures and techniques. Parents who don't provide their children with corrrect equipment (chairs and the like) and training can be sued for negligence. Also, let's sell healthy drinks and foods that are scientifially formulated to replenish nutrients specifically spent on long periods of gaming.;)
(This an attempted joke. A bad one perhaps, but still.)
Though on a serious note, I would be sad but not surprised if it came to that, eventually. It's like we live an an age of loss of sponteneity.
No, you clearly don't have much of a clue about chi do you.:)
Chi flows from lower down, close to the lumbar region (in Chinese called Tan Tien). But that's almost a minor detail.
I was going to write about my different experiences, but I don't think you'd take me seriously anyway. By the way, that's the primary reason it's not better understood: anyone who believes in chi is considered to be a crackpot or misguided by "serious" people. Not to worry, one day people will learn that the Earth is round, but in the meantime I'll not ruin my reputation more than necessary.
We can't keep the climate from changing!
Of course not. But we most likely are pushing the change to be much faster than usual, to the point where ecosystems won't be able to adapt fast enough. And that's will have all sorts of consequences to humans as well.

Weren't they plying free trade with aliens and running space ports? Think of all that pollution.

Public funds or not... in my opinion that is the rat I'm smelling.

Satisfied now? ;)
...which would be (partly) why feudalism was at an end around that time, and revolutions could take place.

I'll take my chances with warmer weather.
If it was only about warmer weather, then that would be fine. Unfortunately, warmer leads to more violent weather, with all the consequences that will flow from that.

...and that is why cyborgs will claim all the jobs, and leave humans and computers unemployed. ;)
As long as workers are disorganized, businesses will play them against each other, and the workers will suffer for it.
Those with the greatest numbers have the greatest potential power.
Those who are more organised have the greatest actual power.

What did it mean for a fly to be executable?
Tiny guillotines.
Interesting domain name... "yout.be". Is it safe to visit?
Wow, I'm trolling hard today..
Man, that was crappiest trolling ever! You scored 5 Interesting. Surely you can troll harder than that. !-)

That worries me more than the GFC.
That would be a lot of firewater.

I thought phone screens are too small for porn.
In this age of global warming, eskimos really do need fridges. Maybe even throw in a freezer as well, for a reduced price of course.
Do you think I have a chance of becoming a good salesman? ;)

Prince August moulds are still available. Amazing they haven't gone the way of chemistry sets (I enjoyed both greatly).
