Breaking into a house in stealing someone elses posessions... How is this remotely similar to someone selling sex? Breaking into a house isn't buying or selling any goods. Burglars are not offering a service.
Were you trying to make some sort of point, because frankly you've lost me.
While I'm not arguing in favor of the President being away from Washington. It seems to me that some work can be done from away from the Oval Office. He flies around on a mobile command suite, effectively. He has the capabilities to communicate with the majority of the world at any given time, at any location. It doesn't seem beyond me.
Unfortunately I wish I could work from home and exotic locales much more than I do (read: never.)
1. Americans can pay for goods and services
2. Americans can have sex
3. ???
4. Profit!
Seriously though, why is it still illegal? People like to have sex, people like to make money (or at least do it to pay the bills). (Offtopic, yes I know)
There are different "colors" and "pots" of money within the government budget. Veterans benefits and retirement benefits are not associated with the same pots as defense spending. It's just how Congress works, it's not limited to the military.
Military healthcare definitely needs to be worked on, I understand we don't want tort lawsuits constantly against the government. But medical malpractice is medical malpractice, situations like this should be prevented and/or punished severely.
I encourage everyone that doesn't know Amn Colton Read's story to google his name.
I think the +5 funny rests my case. Feel free to look down your nose via your horn-rimmed glasses some more though.
Overuse/Misuse... on the internet? Really?
This comes up every time. If you don't want information out there. Don't put it on the internet. Even with all of my privacy controls on Facebook on max settings (Always getting screwed with and removed by FB). I don't put ANYTHING on Facebook that I wouldn't accept being released to the general indexes. Don't put information out there that you wouldn't want the world populace to potentially know!
It's obvious that no one is claiming that there is a direct correlation to these individuals (or at least I hope they were doing it alone) watching porn and the downfall of the economy.
It's simply more sensational to say, "Look at what these guys were doing!" People screw around at work (ie reading slashdot on a slow friday), but seriously people should know better than to be browsing for the Pronz from a work computer.
This was my experience as well unfortunately. We had lots of big brains in my engineering school, but most were horrible instructors and were instead picked up for their research (lots of DARPA and other venues). It's a very unfortunate situation when the ability to teach future engineers is lost due to current research and funding (and eventual closure of the engineering school [well at least the important parts] - {read Mechanical, Civil, CS, EE, etc}.
That currently above post is marked funny and the post he's complaining about is the one that's insightful.
There's not a damn thing that's funny about his actually insightful, albeit perturbed and scathing, commentary.
That's what I call funny.
Riddle me this, I comment on the actual structure of the meme and instead take negative karma for redundant (No one else commented on the meme structure) and overrated (my -1 was overrated).
I'm sure this will take just as big of a hit, but it's at least freaking informative./miffed rant
Perhaps you haven't heard of the Gulf of Mexico dead zone?

Not saying that this is doing it any favors... but we were already kind of on a roll there.
It's obviously a metric ass-load of VW beetles. (Note, this is % of a VW beetle that... well you get the idea.)
Physical world analogies for virtual things...
Hi! Welcome to Slashdot!
Touche... I learned something new today about kinky sex. Thank you, AC.
If someone dies from self-inflicted autoerotic asphyxiation... it's never too soon.

Unfortunately sometimes they're not even losing legs in the combat zone:

+4, +3 Insightful? Wow Mods, whoosh. This is funny. Your lack of noticing the tongue-in-cheek comment is even funnier.
There's always one...
Smug looks and wearing the t-shirt of a band that was around before you were born will likely aid entry as well.

I was watching porn as the economy crashed too! And how.

Kind of like reading /. at work?

There is no ethics in journalism. Period.
Let's not kid ourselves here. It's all about sensationalism, it's all about the hype and the revenues it generates.
It's a business, what do you expect?
Not to be a pain in the ass, but "Say hello to my little friend" Was Tony Montana - Cuban. So would Cuban/Mexican drug cartels work?
I too would be intrigued on how one quantifies evil...
What would be the units?
Hitlers? ie, "China just jailed four more protesters". (4 mHitlers - read mili-Hitlers)
"This just in China has savagely beaten three puppies who were considered enemies of the state." (.5 Hitlers)

He's obviously a Next Generation watcher, Not TOS. Only Romulans had it in TOS.
