Shoot you could prob put one in your own car, park at the mall, and pick up all sorts of codes from people locking their cars. You could then come back out, go thru the list, and see which cars honk and flash their lights at you. You could then steal the car, or just steal anything of value from inside of it. It is no safer then the physical keys, introduces extra points of failure (Dead battery, virus, etc), therefore it is a poor idea.
Alright, newer used car is going to be 5 to 6 thousand, for decent condition and mileage. Thats still not cheaper then a 2 thousand dollar engine. You used a poor analogy. Not so at all, have you followed the suggested maintenance cycle? oil changes, transmission flushes, coolant flushes, etc. IF everything is maintained the way it was intended to, then you vehicle can last upwards of half a million miles. I agree that some people are hard to retrain, but not all computer illiterate users have problems, in fact its the people that have issues with windows that seem to have issues with linux (In my experience, YMMV)
Opensuse 11.2 packman repository scarbble is there, just installed it and it works. (Might have to check the settings, it loaded funny the first time i loaded it, but loaded properly after I tweaked the settings and restarted the game.)
