HTTP has range-headers for both PUT and GET requests so if only services like S3 would use those standard headers POSIX style FS access would be more than possible.
Exactly, I've had Amazon take down EC2 instances and then all data stored there went to/dev/null so if the data is important you have to do backup. That people are shocked about that is very strange.
I think the main problem with that is "where is the fun in that". It will probably be a lot easier to get funds and people on a mission to the Moon or Mars that to set up a test base on Antarctica. It's not as sexy.
The discussion is not about "airspace" as such but about protected airspace. I.e when it can be seen as intruding on your property or not. The TS claim was that the drone was allowed to intrude on the man's property due to it flying in "airspace".
It's Cykelslangen and not Cykels Langen. Cykel is bike and Slange is snake so it's the Bicycle Snake (due to how the road wriggles around). Other than that you are dead on, the pronunciation from Wired.com is completely wrong.
If it's hovering around your head it's clearly no longer an airspace as defined by the FAA on where aeroplanes can fly without intruding on your property rights.
How else could NM update/etc/resolv.conf with the nameservers provided by the DHCP server? If you need static data in resolv.conf while using NM then add these in NM and they will be added to resolv.conf.
Better yet look at what they did to Gnome Terminal in 3.14, the tabs are not centered instead of left aligned which makes it hard to actually see how many tabs you have opened at the same time. And which tab is the active one is completely impossible to see visually.
No, because the key length of DES was public and thus people had no problem understanding what kind of effort and costs it would take to break it by using brute force. Once it was felt that that threshold was near, 3DES was strapped together and that one is still not reachable by any brute force machine the NSA has now or in the foreseeable future.
I wouldn't go so far as call it a killer feature but SSH support on Windows is a welcoming feature indeed. Hopefully they will also some day throw out their power shell and replace it with BASH, that would be the day!
That is not the same thing as "the developers are not listening to people", it's simply the open questions from the code reviewers that needs to be addressed if kdbus will have a chance of being included. I.e business as usual.
And of course the devs are hell-bent to get it included, when was the last time that you wrote kernel code without caring if it would be included or not?
And the chance of that being implemented correctly is what, 1%? Now obviously MasterCard probably is better at this than random app-devloper considering that they have to pay the people whose cards are hacked, but since it's a closed app we only can speculate.

Agreed, I have actually found employment ads about that kind of work in election years.

That article is not about the Google Compute Cloud though.
It's IE6 and WinXP, neither which ever could be seen as not broke.
The bare minimum is still support.

It includes Microsoft, that might well tip the scale for many PHB:s

Well, go ahead and fly your Chessna at head-level over somebodies backyard while they stand there and see if you violate any laws...

According to TFA it was flying well below any level ever though of as "airspace"
No it never did

That is not what he said, he said that his backup was on a RAID6 not that he used RAID6 as a backup!

I know it's the answer to "should I run WIndows on my servers?" but how in hell do you find that as an acronym for Microsoft?

So their employers donated that money then.

systemd is not in the kernel, it's part of userspace.
What didn't they listen to? AFAIK Linus will not merge kdbus if that where the case.
