One thing about the iPod is that it seems remarkably durable. I used to keep it in my shirt picket during work and every once in a while when I bent over or was getting out of my car, it fell...3-4 feet to the pavement. It's banged up but it works everytime.
Actually if they are rewriting office and several other apps, they may be taking all the backwards compatible crap out which means 80% less bloat then what's in XP right now.
People will accept that they have to buy new software or they may have an upgrade policy for actual owners of the older versions...who knows?
I happen to think this could be a godsend for MS users because their OS might finally work well.
It hurts having to worry about backwards compatibility, which is why apple is dropping OS 9 support in the future.
It's been brought up before that the war on drugs might very well be funded by the drug lords so that the competition will always be non existant. If pot was legalized, they would be out of a job.
Now, what if the war on microsoft is actually funded by microsoft? If MS were to pay both sides to fight this out, but continue forever, MS would look like it's under constant stress from the DOJ and others that people begin to feel sorry for them.
It also explains why the judge seems to forgive Microsoft for their constant bullshitting in court, the way it presents itself, etc...
So NT has it's roots in a microkernel architecture and claims that it is posix complient.
BeOS did also, but that does not make NT, 2k or BeOS Unix operating systems. There's nothing close to Unix being in any of them except for BeOS' posix shell.
He's really not saying if it's good or bad, he's making a statement that says that his sales are lower because of internet savvy fans.
Really, Moby likes to get his name out there, so he gave his music to the marketroids as long as the content wasn't based on cigarettes, alchohol or some other stipulations.
I don't think he sold it, it was public domain for advertising.
Maybe he wants to actually try to sell his stuff. I own the album and i like it.
Well, seeing nothing is really important today in the news, I can see why slashdot readers are being the nosey old women looking for SOMETHING to bitch at.
People need to either sleep, get out of their house or watch a movie instead of bitching, STOP BITCHING!
But...they are keeping the original url and not republishing it as something else. Look at any URL in that site: http://web.archive.org/web/20010407020209/h ttp://s lashdot.org/ for instance.
It's keeping all the original copyright information IN tact so there is little to be said about it. People should be happy that they are getting free hosting from this company.
Big companies who use Veritas Volume Manager already are using a client side Java Application. The interface is java, runs beautifully and is done right.
You might not use it, but there is at least ONE decent java app out there.
You'll soon learn that the moderators here aren't much more intelligant than my hockey playing, air freshener huffing roommate. He also enjoys slamming beer cans on his head...he forgets to empty them first, though.
While I agree, there are more than just standard ATX boards out there. MiniATX, flexATX, micro-ATX, ad nauseum.
Standard components work with these boards. The company I was working for is using a flex-atx board in a 9x9x11 cube, as well as a flex-atx board in a 2u x 5.25 x 11 (i think) casing.
It's possible to be inovative with PC cases, but no one seems to be doing that. Sure you get the little cubes once in a while, but most people don't stray from the beige or black towers you see nowadays.
I believe it was a joke...

someone started this, but it hasn't moved at all since the day i found it (7 months ago)
The guys started hacking away at the db and looked like they were beginning to do a good job.
Here is the site
Where is your country? I like it.

Spelling is overrated now that we have computerized dictionaries!
:)
I have issues with spelling advocates anyway

Just a thought...
back to pr0n.

The mentality isn't there.
mmm yes quoting lyrics, real informative.

Let's see...GPL = communism and we fight a hippy partisan cause about "Free Software"
"Free software" types are clearly, in many cases, not on the side of Freedom (except when it comes to smoking pot)
Um...this is insightful? Moderators, you've been trolled.
Information wants to be free as long as it doesn't involve me or what I don't want to see...then i want total control because I am a hypocrite.

They do read the robots file...
it's how you tell it NOT to archive your site.

Can I invest in your wang? There is talk about it having serious growth potential. --Apologies to Penny Arcade for taking their idea :)

Oh well, it's slashdot, whaddya gonna do?
wow, i don't even read sigs anymore. I guess I should start again :) Sorry, my friend.
Things change. Now, in order to be a technonerd, all you need is a computer, linux and a connection to the internet to post on slashdot.
I miss the older days.
And when the Winnebago made skid marks in space...ugh I can't stand when people do things that aren't realisitc, especially in sci fi spoofs!
-Evil will always prevail because good is dumb...
In Rochester, NY I can get a T1 from Paetec for $600 and change a month...
It's beginning to seem more like a decent idea seeing i have friends who live around me that are looking at WiFi as an alternative anyway.
hmmmm...vewy interesting.
Honestly, if I chose to use moderator points, I would meta moderated the Troll remark poorly...
He asked a question, A QUESTION!
I think it's a viable question, now if he was touting the death of BSD, Linux, HURD, rms or something then yeah, he's a troll.
Stupid stupid moderators...
and we all know that 1984 was an accurate portrayal of the future.
I tend to think Brazil is more accurate, but maybe i'm wrong.
