It takes time, but bad things happen to bad people. Always.
The cynic in me disagrees. I used to work for someone, who if you referred to them as a pompous asshole would be an insult to assholes. Last I checked he still owns the company and is worth several million dollars.
True, they are willing victims. I guess the issue comes from the fact that odds are *so* in favor of the house, and then if $DIETY forbid someone actually wins, they get stiffed and banned.
Preseidents will be elected by large cities (Los Angeles, New York City, etc) of a handfull of states. Executive decisions will be based on the needs of those few zones rather than the country as a whole.
I'd say that the fact that the methodology is closed, and the data is not peer-reviewed, pretty much screams "made up" to me. I put it on par with the "Windows TCO is lower than Linux TCO" study.
Perhaps, but I have seen people go from "People can live comfortably on $40k/yr, who needs to make more than that?" to the sentiment I posted about. It's not a stretch...
Part of this is related to desire. Those of us that don't grow up with Daddy's trust fund have more drive in life. Things matter to us. We don't go binging on the weekends and barely pass the exam, because if we don't do well we won't get a job.
*Now* who's painting with the broad brush? What about those of us that didn't have "daddy's trust fund" and *still* made something of ourselves? I got where I am today because I took the view that 40 hour work weeks are for losers. Ever since my first job (lo those many years ago) I have *never* worked just one job - I'm always looking to expand my mental horizons and be the best at what I do. To say that I'm a lazy, fat, stupid American (ok, so the "fat" one is true...:P ) is an insult.
You're right. It would be so much simpler if we gave all our compensation over $37k/yr to the government to help out all the people that make less than that. After all, who better than a bureaucrat to assign a decent wage, right?
I dunno... I work for the US Subsidiary of an international bank and the Citrix Thin Client devices sitting in all of our 700 branches seem to work just fine. I wouldn't call Citrix dead quite yet.
Unfortunately, since this thing could feasibly take off from any straight stretch of road, what's to stop the "I can fly MS Flight Sim, I can fly one of these" types from just finding a nice stretch of road and taking off?
Of course, taking off and piloting are the (relatively) easy parts, so maybe the problem will take care of itself the first time they do an approach:)
I had just this happen to me about 3 years back. The accident was ruled my fault, because I failed to yield the right of way to the car running the red light.

Ehh, you talkin about that 'damn piece of paper'?

I have a fundamental problem with the phrase "defraud a casino". Isn't that like saying "rob a thief"?
There's some cognitive dissonance between your comment and your sig.

Why yes...yes, they are.
Most modern disk encryption systems have a way to reset the boot password. At least the product they use in my org does (PointSec).

More than 1,000,000 people have been killed in Iraq at a final cost of at least $3,000,000,000,000.
Really? Cause last I heard, they pretty much just made that shit up.
Players, or cheerleaders? Or *everyone*? (That would get interesting in Green Bay...)
What were we talking about again?
"Well shit on me! Another hacker!"
That is quite another fetish altogether.
Because of the lack of blood to the brain when the penis is erect.

Has Microsoft secretly stumbled onto some previously unknown technique for making money off of doomed products that none of us have heard of?
It's called "pay-per-incident support".

I suggest "SnarkNavel Enterprises, Inc."

God, I love Alabama.
the goal that by 2020 "no one should be killed or injured in a Volvo car."
Yeah, cause by then Ford will be bankrupt and no one will be driving Volvos.
What if you're not using the MS Virus Distribution Suite 2007, having opted for GroupWise, Notes, or heck even pine?
That point would be valid...if said agreement hadn't expired about 3 months ago.
