    Maybe it'll sell for the enter the matrix scenes, cause most geeks hate the game.

    I enjoyed the game and saw all the scenes. Not really worth having IMHO... except one lesbo kissing scene (the merovingians wife (who makes Neo kiss her in the second one) kisses Jada Pinkett-Smith). Not all that exciting, but some guys really get off on that stuff.

    Obviously, this 'muscle suppresant' is in our bodies for a reason. If it wasn't, these 'mutants' would have been the evolved aspect of us (unless you prescribe that they are GOING to be the evolved aspect of us).

    Agreed... the server needs to make it so the client CAN'T cheat. That way, if you find cheaters, it has to have some 'server side' cheat available, so never go to that server.

    Yes, and they recruit and draft for it, and have full carpet bombs and everything. The definition of war, by US standards, is when Congress declares it.

    No matter, whether it was a police operation or a war, you lost anyway.

    We lost a 'police action' trying to keep democracy in a nation. We didn't lose our homeland to an invading force.

    The joke would be funnier if it wasn't told every time someone mentions France.

    Sorta like when linux and bugs and viruses are mentioned when a Microsoft story is mentioned? You don't seem to mind that...

    FYI if there is ever another "Great War" and it is fought on American soil, your guns won't save you from nuclear and chemical attack.

    Nukes are just a bad idea... we have a ton of them and would just fire them back.
    You know the cure to exposure to, say, anthrax is? Fresh air. Chemical attacks hurt in enclosed areas, not out in the open.

    Hey assholes: no one keeps bringing up VIET NAM, a war the USA lost with nothing near 11% of the population killed before making the decision to pull out.

    Vietnam was a police action, not a war. And if it was a war, and it was on our land, I'm sure we'd stay in for over 11%. Keep that in mind... they are invaiding your country, not the other way around.

    Conclusion, STFU.

    No need to get testy. It was a simple joke to get a giggle. Of course, I'm "flogging a dead horse" with this, but you have no problem not getting your panties riled up when people claim java is slow, or linux is the answer to the desktop, or how all geeks are nerds that can't get dates, etc...
    No, you get upset at a silly joke france surrendering (which they did).

    People complain because the averages are scewed. The cost of living on the west coast vs the midwest. There are 100X more IT people on the west coast, where the cost is MUCH higher. If I'm close to the average (living in the midwest), I know I'm making a good deal of money for my area.

    Those graphs should include cost of living and a calculator for getting "your area's" average salary.

    Umm... I'd like to also point out LNUX (VA Software's stock; parent company of Slashdot) is hovering around $2, and could easily drop back down below $1 where it hovered quite a bit last year. It used to be high (especially around the dotcom boom). I don't think they've posted a net gain ever.

    Sometimes its hard to swallow when someone puts it in perspective.

    Anyone wanna seed the firefox d/l?

    Anyone notice that there are editor holy wars (vi emacs), distro holy wars, but no 'browser' holy wars (yeah, ie vs mozilla, but that windows vs linux... I'm talking all in linux). Stuff like 'theme isn't finished' would be jumped on by the 'other browser' elitists. So linux needs a second open source free browser project so we can have a browser holywar.

    So the way it works is... when someone asks to slashdot a webcast, wait til its over to put it on the front page, but when an anonymous poster points to an IP (not a domain), slashdot the hell outta it.

    OK, I'm not saying history doesn't matter. Anyone that says that is either under the age of 8 or ignorant. I'm just saying, the whole "I'm first, your second/I get all the patent rights for the past X years/our nation is faster than yours, but the media attention you get spreads the lies that your first" kinda stuff is a waste of time.

    You are right... the differences in the designs, and how they approached the situations and the innovations they used/developed are definately worth studying. But 'who was first' isn't.

    Just say the Z3 was the first german, ENIAC was the first US, etc...

    I agree. Its knee-jerk reactions like this that give Linux a bad name.

    Two words for you guys:
    GROW UP!

    You are taking away money from the competition, and putting ads on a page that most people ignore anyway. This isn't something to get your panties in a bunch about. Go argue about which editor or distro is the best... it'll make you feel better ;-)
