I think any blocking is better than no blocking. The only 'bad' thing is false-positives. If you lower your blocking to prevernt false-positives, you still have a service that is desired even if you don't catch them all...
Aye, I agree with what you had to say. My point was if we could (hypothetically) take care of those that lose their jobs, the telemarketing companies would have nothing to stand on, and no way to complain to the government. That's when things would get nasty and we'd see their 'true side.'
why haven't these people been looking for jobs already
The pay is too damn good. You only need a high school degree, and training is cake. Would you rather work at McDonalds for $5.50/hour or telemarketting for $10.00/hour?
...then later, then. Seriously, it should have been tackled long ago. What I'd like the government to do is say "OK, we'll compensate for those being laid off, but the list is staying." THEN we'll see the true side of the telemarketters.
FYI - if you work in email spam, better start looking for a job now while you have a chance...
I'll agree with your sentiment. The answers were well thought out, well laid out, and answers the questions completely (but I did expect it. We are talking about top lawyers, here).
Civil answer would also be great, but we have to find another source that works on the 'other side' of the fence (not FSF lawyers, but RIAA lawyers).
JBuilder is my IDE of choice. Get the enterprise version (free 30 day trial), and create 5 entity ejbs (BMP or CMP, your choice, but CMP will require no coding at all) with it. Now do the same ejbs in eclipse.
Then tell me which is easier and just made the job simple.
If the company is floating the bill, then JBuilder or IntelliJ are better IDEs (though they cost a fortune).
Not a dis against Eclipse. Its a fine IDE, but JBuilder and IntelliJ just have more features to really speed up production (especially in the EJB department).
That looks like a custom made exception, not IIS bombing.
Ever try apache2 when it was released? It bombed all the time. Lame attempts to insult microsoft doesn't get you the attention you crave (at least not positive attention).
With the latest Guiness craze (anyone willing to do the dumbest, most dangerous stuff to get their names in the book), I'm afraid to make space the next competition. Yeah, they put their lives in danger, which is no biggie by me... cleanse the gene pool...
But what happens when someone's custom-made SaturnV crashes into your house?

I have to second the 'thinking in java' suggestion, by Bruce Eckels. I learned java by that book, even though I already knew OOP. If you want a good C++ book, "Thinking in C++" by the same guy is the way to go.
In fact, any book by Bruce Eckels is a great read. It reads like a book, and teaches you in easy terms. It isn't like reading a math book, which most programming books tend to do.
I'm an average Joe. I am 31 years old and grew up enjoying Star Wars. I hear about the game, and decide to go get it. I load up the game, read the manual, and find out I can't get an X-Wing.
I just lost 80% of my interest in the game.
Now, when I go around and fight, I realize that the graphics are pretty, but there isn't much gameplay.
I decide it isn't worth the monthly charge, and cancel my subscription.
Now, take out the '30 year old growing up on star wars', and you have everquest.
The game is about going around, enhancing your levels/skills, the end. Yeah, I can nitpick and find differences, too, but the game still only appeals to MMORPG types like everquest lovers.
That (along with the lack of space) is why I said it is nothing more than EQ with a SW theme.
I just want to play a SW MMOG that isn't a fp based, planet based, character interaction game. I wanted a space-sim, work on space based skills (like scounting, and lasers, engineering, and piloting, and mining, and capitalship systems), and join in massive wars, like the battle of endor. Not some, "I'm an ewok, would you like me to dance for you in exchange for a haircut and axe" game.
Eve is a GORGEOUS game graphic wise, but a boring game, playability wise.
The game is so open, that you get lost with what to do next. The tutorial gets your feet wet, and you travel through space and go to space stations, and mine, but what else is there to do?
You can wrap shit in a box and call it a present...
But the fact of the matter is, there isn't space combat. That's what all us 30+ year olds grew up think of star wars. The fact of the matter is, the game is a first person, planet based RPG.
You say "but they'll add space later". That's like saying "Here's you star trek game. Its just an away crew on a planet, but we'll add the enterprise later".
Now I have to pay $100 and wait X+N months (X is when they SAY it will be out, N is an arbitrary number above 3) to get into an X-Wing? That's acceptable?
Come on, the features and stuff you mention that make the game different from EQ is too nit-picky. Coming from your average joe, the minute they find out there is no X-Wing is the minute they lose 80% of interest in the game. The game will be successful, but only in MMORPG type people.
I'd like to see, for once, a MMORPG that appeals to everyone, not just the EQ, UO, AO type people.
And to argue with your other comment. If you try the SWR mud, you'll find that SWG copied most of their ideas from it (and SWR has space, which may be how SWG is designing their space).
I'll believe it when I see it, plus it'll be interesting to see how it will flow with the rest of the game (which will be virtually impossible, I think).
Bill Gates is laughing maniacly right now. Think about it. XP for 1 CPU license? $199
Guess SCO doesn't believe in linux for the desktop...
KUDOS!! LMFAO!

Best. comment. ever!
inaccurate system is worse than no system

Honestly, most non-geeks look at the name Ian Murdock and think "executive producer of Fox" (Rupurt Murcdock).

Eclipse is the best IDE for its price.

Therefore 1% of slashdotters will care.
Well, it all depends on how much fuel was burnt-up by the time it hits. If its still pretty full, then you could roast some monster marshmallows!

This, just in!!
A quick followup study shows that if a genius tells his wife about this study, he usually ends up dead or castrated.
what's worse? That its a dupe, or the same editor on both stories?
hideousity of struts?
What's so hideous about struts?
With struts and taglibs, I can't say that PHP would make it any prettier.
When I get time tonight, I'll write up a webpage in a bunch of different languages to show off the 'prettiness' of struts on a jsp.
Hey, throw a "-FortKnox" in there for some recognition ;-)

Its just everyquest with star wars races. Seriously! You have an admiral ackbar race running around in bone armor with an axe.
You want a quick idea of the game?
No spaceships (no ties, no x-wings, nuttin), no stars (all planetside), no wars (no open PvP servers).
So, the game doesn't have stars or wars. Its everquest with a star wars theme.
I'd rather play an MMORPG version of X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter before playing this piece of garbage.
