Whoops, that "submit button" doesn't do a preview very well. I wasn't finished. DOH!
I think this shows linux's strength, though. We made an entire port to linux with only one box with several dozen coders all hitting it at the same time. If we woulda had one NT box with every developer hitting it from linux, it'd die a painful, memory depleted death.
This isn't something you should use to determine Linux's strengths. I've contracted for a company that makes a cross-platform program. We all used windows, but had exceed for a solaris box and a linux box to make those ports.
Why? Because its easier for the IT managers to buy a bunch of windows boxes they are familiar with, and dump exceed on them, than having a buncha linux boxes with some type of windows viewer.
You know... the funny thing is... They have an editor on staff already. I'm no journalist, but doesn't an editor check things like grammar and spelling?
With MS Money and Quicken, the use of checks is even invalid. I never write a check for my bills. You can setup Money & Quicken to pay all your normal bills automatically (whether that means pay online, or sending out a check). Its automatic, and I don't need to worry about the checks, just have to make sure the money is available, and as long as I put in all my deposits on time, the software can warn me the money isn't available and it won't send out the check. Paying bills has never been easier.

Did anyone read penny arcadetoday? They make a good point about how marketing is done in stores. Hardly any store is actually actively marketing the N-Cube (because they are both supposed to come out November).
At Smith&Wesson, you can buy our revolvers by agreeing that you won't shoot any humans or wildlife; only fire on targets at a firing range. (For clarification, I just made that up).
Its the same thing. You can't place those types of restriction without the law backing you up. It'll fall apart the first time microsoft attempts to sue.

Seriously, its like training a Jack Russel Terrier. They are constantly testing their bounds to see what they can get away with. Someone needs to smack MS hard, and fast.
Or... if you want a job is this stingy economy, learn Java (especially J2EE), which is in high demand. Perl and PHP are slowly going away, and Java(J2EE)/ASP(blech!)/Python are in high demand.
We, actually, considered crystalspace and other 3D engines, but decided to go 2D. It was a learning process, so we thought we'd go ahead and do the from scratch thing so we could learn DirectX.
From my own senior design projects, let me discourage you from designing a game. We (3 of us) designed a PC game that used DirectX7, used 2D graphics, sound, and was online only (no AI). After working and designing it all year, we could only get people on the screen fighting one another. The amount of work we put in was the most out of any of the projects.
I don't want to discourage you too much, but designing a game with graphics and everything is a huge task. Most people have no idea what they are getting themselves into when they do it, and it can pay dearly on the other classes you will be taking (I dunno about you, but the last year of college was the hardest classes, all requiring multiple programs to be done all year long). If you want to design a game, may I suggest something similar to a MUD or MOO? You can put more features into it, and people can have fun playing it. But getting a game working (with graphics) on a PS2 will require a ton of time, and a large team of people.
Offer an easy installation
Yes. Excellent installation wizard facility, including on-screen help, 'Plug-n-Play' and Package Group selections. But all is not perfect. The biggest hurtle may be the configuration of your graphic hardware. Purchasing new computers with Linux pre-installed solves this headache.
The new SuSE version offer an incredibly easy install (including graphics), can get you and running quickly, with very little effort.
I personally haven't tried any new versions of RedHat, but I've heard it doesn't have the best installation.
How do you get income on 30 million hits? Marketing with banners (hardly any, maybe the costs of hosting), and selling the emails of all users for spammail (it'll be a cold day in hell before taco does that).
This isn't surprising. Lemmie add Intel, AMD, and Transmeta into the mix. Looks like all tech stocks are hitting low. Not to mention that stocks dropped drastically after last tuesday.
The poll in the article is about whether people thought it would of helped prevent the attack. Your post is about whether people want it. These are two different things.
A military dictatorship would of helped prevent the attack, but I don't want a military dictatorship.
72 percent of Americans believe that anti-encryption laws would be 'somewhat' or 'very' helpful in preventing a repeat of last week's terrorist attacks
Read it over and over again. It is not stating that 72 percent of people want their rights taken away. It just states that they think anti-crypto might of helped.
Redo the poll to:
How many people think that the attack wouldn't happen if the US was a cruel military dictatorship?
I bet it would be like 90 percent. Its true. It doesn't mean we want to be a dictatorship, just that it might of prevented it.
