See my post above. Long story short, you're wrong. It is not illegal to manufacture your own firearm as long as it isn't a NFA regulated gun (full-auto, silencer, few other restrictions), AND you don't build it with the intentions of selling it.
From the ATF website:
For your information, per provisions of the Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968, 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, an unlicensed individual may make a “firearm” as defined in the GCA for his own personal use, but not for sale or distribution.
The GCA, 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(3), defines the term “firearm” to include the following:
(A) any weapon (including a starter gun) which will or is designed to or may be readily converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive: (B) the frame or receiver of any such weapon; (C) any firearm muffler or silencer; or (D) any destructive device. Such term does not include an antique firearm.
No, it doesn't. The NFA imposes a tax on the manufacture or transfer of CERTAIN firearms, namely anything full-auto, a short barreled rifle (under 16"), a short barreled shotgun, silencers, and other explosive devices. However, I agree with your second statement. Further more, the particular regulations they always start talking about, (limited capacity magazines, etc) don't make any difference in the real world.
I know you weren't implying that you have something right this second you would like to replace but Megasquirt is pretty much exactly what everyone is looking for. It's quite a nifty project, and seems to be gaining a decent following.
Ah, crap. I'm tired enough of their ads, and didn't think it could get any worse. You proved otherwise. Oh Well, we'll let everyone else know who we're going to let run the country for a while.
Ohio - We chose the president.
My understanding is that with the sun at a much lower angle during the winter, it really doesn't make much of a difference, even more so if you're somewhere where the roof is covered in snow. I'm sure there may be some exceptions depending on geography, but it seems like the benefit of a white/light roof in the summer far outweighs the slight reduction in solar heating in the winter.
Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+H, and I think Ctrl+J for justification. Admittedly I hated the switch from 2003 to 2007, but after a while I got used to it. I certainly appreciate some of the changes made to how some of the functions operate, but until they decide to make Filtering in excel Exclusive rather than Inclusive, they still have a way to go.
Interesting, I was reasonably sure that Android 2.3 doesn't support USB host mode. In fact a quick glance in googles direction indicates that that wasn't introduced until 3.1. I would love to know what phone your using, unless of course your talking out of your ass.
Meh, I've had the stuck throttle thing happen to me in two different cars. Mind you, it was terrifying, but I would guess it took me less than 2 seconds to realize what the problem was, and come up with a plan. I shifted into neutral, and shut off the engine. Easy enough. Now given it wasn't at highway speeds, but I was 16 at the time in both vehicles, and even then without the experience, still had the thought to take the car out of gear, and kill the engine before I sent a piston out of the hood. I never had the 'mash brakes' thought.
I'm with you on the installation guide. I have yet to complete a MythTV setup I started messing with forever ago. Admittedly I haven't messed with it much, but I went in to it thinking that I could have some basic functionality done in an hour or two. Definitely not the case.
+1 on a few how-to's. Not how to set up your router type stuff, but as mentioned above, stuff like color calibration on monitors. Stuff that isn't in the instructions. Neat hardware hacks would be nice, but again soldering up a electronic greeting card to a keyboard is boring.
Exactly. Nothing to see here, the White House has already proven that they could give two shits about the petition website based on their responses so far. If I'm not mistaken, there was even a petition for the White House to take the petitions seriously rather than thumbing their nose at them. It's a complete fucking joke.
Honestly who thinks of these things? Do congressfolks have an aide or something who's sole job is to come up with titles that also have convenient acronym? or is it a congressional committee?
Well, there's that. I guess I meant legitimate reason, rather than simply bought and paid for. But you bring up two great points, first and foremost, everything is for sale in politics, and secondly that the legislation that is put up for vote is insane. Between all of the random earmarks and riders that have nothing to do with the rest of the bill, and the fact that the congressfolks rely on their aides to read this crap for them. Maybe we can all think of enough similarities that a few of us can chip in and buy one loophole that covers us all. You know, like if you're a person who makes less than 100K/year, who drives a domestic car, and has a registered account at slashdot, and posts semi off-topic comments about requirements to fit into a newly bought and paid for tax loophole while having full-time employment at the same time, your total tax liability is capped at 5%....
This. I find myself to be a conservative moderate most days, with a few exceptions on some major issues. But the elected repubs are pissing me off. It is almost always about being completely polar opposite to anything Obama says or does now, that absolutely nothing gets done. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Obama, and the next time there is a republican pres. I will be bitching about the dems for the same reasons, but this is entirely why nothing gets done in the U.S. We spend more time pissing in each others cheerios than actually trying to come up with something useful. I mean for fucks sake, I get tax raises are unpopular, but there is no reason the tax code should benefit the well off and corps as much as it does. I don't get it, I honestly think that you may gain some popular vote by taking a slightly harder stance here, being as the bulk of the people won't fall into the wealthy category.
Ugh, sorry for the ridiculous political rant.
OH NO! My gigabits are slowing down too, and I'm definitely underclocking! Maybe I should go beat my dog? Save me MyCleanPC! Please clean up my gigabits and get my computer overclocking again...
I agree with pretty much everything you say except for the avoiding the office suite stuff. Truthfully I haven't gone a day in probably 5 years that I haven't messed with a spreadsheet, and the fact remains, the rest of the people in the office uses stuff like this daily as well. Also in my experience, a lot of C-level execs like the nifty graphs, if not just so they don't have to deal with the actual numbers behind them. I've actually made it a requirement for everyone that reports to me to become some sort of proficient with Office, just because the rest of the world uses it so much and it will be that much easier to get a job over the next person that didn't bother to learn it.

Worse in the sense of an even more pervasive annoyance. I mean, how can you ignore 200' tall radioactive asshats?
Ah, crap. I'm tired enough of their ads, and didn't think it could get any worse. You proved otherwise. Oh Well, we'll let everyone else know who we're going to let run the country for a while. Ohio - We chose the president.
Found your compiler error....

I don't get it either.

three,
Do you have a build log or anything? That sounds like a neat project.
