If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen, but your flame is nothing compared to other flames I've seen (like before I used the SIG file and put my SIG in the actual post.. )
fwooosh!
Anyway, its not so much that stupid posts get modded up, but the obvious thoughts and ideas get modded up (because everyone says "Of course, the thought makes sense, I should mod it up!").
But people don't usually try and post the obvious, they just post what they think right off the top of their heads.. And with the moderation system (and community), posting earlier usually leads to higher post ratings.
Perhaps what is needed is for moderation power to be given out with less frequency. It would force moderators to be more choosey..
In my own personal experience, hand-eye coordination doesn't improve much from gaming.. But my twitch-eye coordination is really great. I can catch flies with my bare hands!
Back when nvidia aquired 3dfx, they began to merge their development teams. The fx is the first card by nvidia to be developed by engineers from both the nvidia and 3dfx groups.
Of course it will work better when you do it their way; It was 3dfx's strength in the beginning, and its downfall in the end.
But I believe that their current development team has yet to hit its stride, and future offerings will see the trophy going back to nvidia...... But who knows! I'm no fortune teller...
GPS, GLONASS and other satellite based systems rely on trigenometry, triangulation, and the precise timing of radio signals to plot a location in 3 dimensional space. Air pressure changes do not affect these devices.... But maybe I just don't understand your post...
Imagine the year 1995... I'm sure somebody said "60% of all ISP traffic is HTTP, with the remainder being FTP and GOPHER".
The web is becoming more decentralized, and P2P is a the cause. Its not quite as general purpose as the rest of the web yet, but its extremely useful if you just want to find a file...
Within 20 years, children won't know the concept of a "server". They will only know of the web as more of a neural network, with the connections shifting from here to there and back again!
Tell you what.. You use your real account to tell me who you are, and I'll move my sig. I am sick of people using AC to flame.. If you're gonna be a prick, at least let people know who you are!
Anybody notice how "Honey pots" backwards is "Stop yenoh!". A quick google of the word reveals it to have to do with food, so "honey pots" is code for "Stop food!". This madness must be ended!
According to this site, content management is needed if you've ever:
It takes a month to sign off the site's Terms & Conditions because every time any one of your organisation's lawyers changes a full stop, all the other ones need to sign it off.
You realise that your site's visual design isn't working, but it will take a month to wrap a new design around the same words.
Your web design agency insists on all content being signed off two months before it goes live... and then transcribes it incorrectly. In a parting gesture, the Web publisher you fired replaced photos of board members with sheep.
You can't update one section of the site because another section has a major overhaul underway. You can either publish the entire site, with both complete and incomplete updates, or hold until both are completed.
You have to work through the night to publish the company's results at market opening time because you don't have a secure area to develop them in advance.
You send email promotions about 'upgrading' to Windows2000 to registered Mac users.
You're employing an army of skilled web publishers just to update the system requirements of your software.
So what is content management? At the smaller scope, it would just include the text from your webpage. At its largest scope, it would include your entire intranet, and the policys regarding its use.
While technically true, saying "64-bit can process 2x faster than 32-bit" is misleading.
64-bit means that each instruction can be 64 bits long, allowing for the native computation of larger numbers. Concurrently, it can process 2 32-bit instructions, but they would have to be instructions such that neither relies on the result of the other.
To sum up: 64-bit is not equal to 2x32-bit, but is much better than 32-bit.
Ya know, thats a pretty good idea! Something like a slashdot proxy server.. Certain sites wouldn't do well behind a proxy, but news stories and other similar types of posts would do well. It would work as you mention, but since there's no guarantee that Google will have the link yet, any article that gets posted to slashdot would automatically get stored, in case it needed to be accessed via proxy...
Probably be too expensive bandwidth-wise, but would definately be cool.
I'll be the first to admit that I mainly post to get karma. And just because its a newspaper, doesn't mean it won't get slashdotted.. I know of a couple of newspapers that would go down in an instant.
And everybody cares about copyright, huh? How many MP3s you got? Any DIVXs? If you don't, then I respect you for it.. But the only copyright/license the majority of slashdotters respect is the GPL.
At least I have the balls to post non AC, even if its to take the heat. And I HOPE this thread gets modded down. Its really only here so you'll see it.. Besides, it would server me right!

Anyway, nuff said..
International Business Machines? More like International Bankrupt Machines!
In business and politics, money talks. When you fine a corporation, you have to get them to notice. If the fine were small, the law would be ignored.
I believe a large part of this money is supposed to go back into keeping the DNC database running.
And yes, I work for a business in the industry (well, teleresearch, but still annoying)
Whos general failure, and why is he reading my hard disk?

You'd try and download a kilogram and you'd get a meter.. or Brittany Spears...
Good idea.. But is it possible to /. slashdot?
"Changes in air pressure?"

Jeez! How can you get so angry over something soooo little? You'll get a better response from people when you learn how to be polite!
Thank you for showing me the error of my ways, and I'm glad I could have you my role model!
If what you say is true (which I have no reason to doubt), that means that ATI would have been doing the same thing.. You just can't trus benchmarks.
