Actually with the latest virus (klez.gem) you can't rely on the "from" line of emails. It is enough that both your email and Hemos are in an infected machine for this to happen. Read Wired for more info.
    So don't jump to conclusions.

Do you realize how stupid this is? 1) counterfit CDs are very common in Venezuela; 2) Whoever buys it here will put it in Internet 3) The guy in Europe has a incentive to look for the Mp3s in Internet (since he/she can't create them legally.

First, the car analogy is wrong. Is true, no Porsche fan would buy a car from a no name company (even if it had Porsche components), but they may buy it from a reputable source (what if Ford made a Porsche-components car for 30-40% less?)

Second, who, besides Microsoft, has succeeded doing OS for PCs? Nobody! (here success is defined exclusively in monetary terms). Why should anybody try? The only approach that *may* succeed is the Free Software approach. Watch how much success Sun has had with Slowaris for Intel

Actually, the reason IIS is exploited more is that once you know a server is running IIS you, basically, know the underlying OS and can in your own machine build a program that will run on the server, hence making the exploited hole more interesting.

This is way Linux should never succeed in the desktop. Lets all be friends and use Mac OS X on the Desktop and Linux in our servers!

Yes, the lumping of CBRN with CT gives a certain slant to the article.
I believe CT is fairly easy to achieve. Some resources are needed, but they do not compare with the visibility/difficulty of making a CBRN attack.
In particular, any 3rd world govertment could manage to get the equipment neccessary. The only missing part would be the capable personnel. But most of these countries have more than enough scientist that are highly retrainable and capable of conducting research in the area of CT. Secrecy could be a problem (particulrly, if the military is already infiltrated in these countries).
I found curious that they do not include Mathematician in the list of "dangerous professionals" (I am a Mathematician, so this is a very subjective comment), must Math people could develop abilities in CS, Bio, Chem or Physics with a short training.

  18. Killing Linux at the University on Killing Off Linux: It's All Academic · · Score: 1

What Apple did was different because they didn't have good (or even bad!) servers. So they try to say use Unix as server and Macs as clients. That didn't work, but is a different thing.
One thing in favor of Unix/Linux is that there are still a lot of Universities (especially outside the US) which Microsoft won't touch. And Linux will always be cheaper than MS Stuff.
