The problem is that both sides takes their movies/shows way to serious. A lot of people put into a deep meaning in Star Wars that isn't really there.

I think the reason Star Wars was taken so seriously was the fact that most people can relate to the characters in some way. True, it's a totally impossible setting, but even through that and the bad story coordination, the audience can usually "connect" with the emotion of the scene. Thus the "Star Wars is universal" pun.
...besides, Jedi are friggin' badass. 'Nuff said.

I agree, those sheeple are badly misled. Here's why.

Most people fall down that traphole because of Genesis 1:2. The second verse in the Bible, according to the mass majority of translations, says something like "and the earth was formless and empty...". Therein lies the problem. The translation I picked up on not two years past, says instead "the earth became formless and empty". Why the change? Well, later on, even still in Genesis - the Greek word there translated as "was" is instead translated as "became". It seems obvious that initial translators didn't see how it could have become, so following and alternate translation - they simply said it had been since its existence. In Isaiah(9?)it actually says, quite explicitly, that the earth was "not created formless and empty". The same in Job. You'd think they'd have noticed that, huh? Silly ducks. Once again, it's not the structure that fails, but the people who form it.

With that said, it shouldn't be of too much concern to a Christian anyway. No amount of arguing or history-hunting ever dispensed Christ to anyone, except by making them call on His name from helplessness. O Lord Jesus!

I sat for a couple minutes, thinking of the best way to reply to this. Here is my conclusion.
Firstly, take a look back at your post. You used the word 'fucking' three times. You insulted the entire population of Slashdot twice, three times if you count the circlejerk comment. Lastly, you rounded off your reply with a good long string of sardonic rage-caps. I'd like you to stop for a moment, and realize that this is trollish behavior. Second, you contributed nothing to the conversation in any comment on this page(and while I may not have seen all of them, I saw a lot, enough to testify). This is also indicative of a troll. And finally, you continued the conversation, in an angry fashion.
If it looks like a troll... sounds like a troll...
