This seems highly inconvienant.. I'm not going to play the swap-trick on a car trip or on the bus, it just seems impractical.
Nice work on finding this flaw though, but.. I'll wait until something else comes out that will let me run a homebrew app off of the same memory stick on 1.5*
Note also that Sony will probably be requiring firmware updates with future games, so unless you want to dedicate your PSP to homebrew, you're kinda outta luck until a non-'swaploit' comes out.
We got to find a way to control the firmware on the PSP before much is accomplished.. Reflashing to 1.00 on US units would make homebrew a reality, but then there is the game firmware update issue. To solve this, maybe someone could create a 'grub'/'lilo' type system that could boot firmware 1.00 or 1.5+.
Just look at this guy's work.. It's amazing what this he can do. If you haven't tried it yet, definately check out QEMU, it's great, and totally free. He also wrote FFMPEG which most definately your linux media player uses..
Where in Austin is this library? My wife is a big book fan and is curious to learn more about the library:)
No good IPv6 firewalls..

Speaking of IPv6, where are (if there are any) good firewall setups for it?
I've tried ip6wall, but its kinda shoddy and their homepage is even down right now. I use FireHOL for my IPv4 stuff, but I can't seem to find a nice IPv6 firewall suite.
Remember, NEVER leave your system wide open, and always use a firewall, unless you're sure of the consequences.
"Especially at 64kbps Ogg Vorbis won over convincingly, and left the competition behind. From 128kbit/s, the noticeable difference between the formats became significantly lower, such that WMA, RealAudio, MP3Pro and also MP3, to most ears, was difficult to differentiate."
It all depends on how good your ears are trained.
I've been a self-proclaimed 'psychoacoustic audiophile' for awhile, and I have learned tons from fellow people at HA and other great sites. If trained to hear such differences as preecho and other things, OGG *greatly* increases in quality over many many other formats, including MP3, at almost every bitrate or quality setting. Hell, WMA just raises decibles to "sound" better (uhm, near-origional reproducability anyone?)
Run some of your own tests, do some ABX'ing, and then report in. Don't trust these, and don't trust others' ears over yours, ever.
Perhaps the best site ever for psychoacoustic recording: Hydrogen Audio
A little plug for my own script, to make personal backups.. Gained its name because it selectively only backs up directories you specify and ignores those you specify also. I use it to create a selective backup of my system, leaving out things I backup seperately like music, etc.. and I usually can make it end up with a 400-500mb iso of just system dirs with conf's, the kernel source, and my home dirs with all configurations in tact. Some example files are included.
My new dell inspiron 8200 at 1600x1200 is the crispest display I have ever seen in my life, an at a P4 1.6ghz and a 64meg GeForce 4, theres no competition this blows the shit out of the "new" and old PowerBook.
I wonder when they will merge robotic technology with the Realdoll line. Bring your dreams only made in movies to life! Or, possibly, too much life if the bitch takes over and electrocutes you;)
True, Sun *isn't* too happy about IBM pushing the mainframes first.
I am pretty sure, whatever kernel IBM chooses to use on their linux mainframes will be THOROUGHLY tested and rigerously tortured and beaten to death until they know exactly how it's going to act. There will probably be a guideline to read for do-it-yourself people on how to make the most stable kernel for the mainframe you have.
Running linux on the mainframe has TONS of advantages, and they will become more pronounced as it gets more popular and more used.
Sun, give me a break, we know you have a big mouth but scaring everyone doesn't work all the time.
Just like banning firearms in England lowered the number of crimes committed using one, right?
Drugs have almost nil related to crimes, and if they even were legal, the fights caused by drugs wouldn't happen because it probably wouldn't be distributed by shady drug-businessmen in the alleyway.
Hehe, yes, but you see.. the coax-to-house deal, your still on a shared node.. not seperate as you would have with your own fiber drop. Same deal as cable like @Home.
As far as @Home in EP, it was great when I lived there, CONSTANT speeds of 400kbytes down/120kbytes up.. it was nice, plus I signed up on a deal where it was $20/mo.
I use business cable here, with a bunch of static ip's and some nice speeds, better than EP, and the cable is very very stable so I am happy.
Odd, I used to live in Eagle Point, Oregon, and all I heard was shite about AFN and its quality.
"Fiber Direct To Your House" my ass.. a direct fiber drop costs ALOT, plus buying the frame and csu/dsu.
They seem to think a coax relay to your house and plopping any DOCSIS cable modem on it is "fiber to your house"
(I used to be a System Administrator for CyberNet, and we did do installations of "Fiber Access"--cable in Ashland)
I moved, and now happily reside in Austin, TX, where a new company, GrandeCom seems to be doing very good around here, service is great, phone lines are low priced, they do both the cable and the phones. And, it WORKS.

Anyone else pronounce this as "X Fee-cees" :)
I ain't carrying around a TV that costs that much, especially into the kitchen. Whoops! Dropped that knife right on the LCD :O

Whoohoo!
Apparently stileproject works too.. lol.
Personally I prefer SuperRescue http://www.kernel.org/pub/dist/superrescue/ for system recovery, works remarkably well on a system with a CD-ROM. Give it a shot :)

I don't recall the Jawa's selling these neither.
Move along.
And you'll get the nearly-2-foot robot to open your door HOW?

Would you rather have it make the kernel panic from no memory to page to? :P

Using OggVorbis would be a welcome and royalty-free alternative to WMA or MP3 for the RIAA.
:)
And cost less to us.
But GOD FORBID them using ogg, 'cause theres no copy protection

The pentagon has known about double d's for a long time already, Bill Clinton was one of the greatest known for his interest in them.

Now I can try it once more and compare to Debian.. I always end up going back to Debian though ;)
