I'd love to just not hear the movie playing on the screens next door to the one I'm watching. Turning up the volume to drown out the other loud movies isn't a solution. But hey, the 19 y/o kids who runs the equipment at my nearest theater are the experts.
We'd have to clear out the biggest room in the house and setup make shift plywood tables to squeeze more people in. A lot of times the cases would be needed as legs for the table tops.
Gotta be more specific. Trial lawyers love eating their own. Copyright lawyers love the low hanging meat someone is smoking / drying. Patent lawyers love eating things that are at least 10x bigger than themselves. Tax lawyers eat anything they want. Personal injury lawyers love eating the chewed off legs left in traps.
Don't count out the quality of the staff. I've seen some elected officials that are indistinguishable from rocks with staffs that can get anything done.
While I agree that it would be neat for it to reload it's own cleaning supplies and unloads it's waste, I think it would be way too expensive. It seems like that would be a whole other robot. Finally, someone is going to have to refil and empty _that_ beast.
I know of one local shop that removed all of the power outlets so that the laptop guys didn't linger all day. Yeah, some guys bring in several batteries, but it still made for a decent turnover of tables.
I have a job where I get great leave / vacation time. Too bad I can't use it.
People here who use thier leave time are considered slackers and anti-productive. You aren't considered a hard worker until you lose days becuase you have the maximum amount of leave possible.
I hate that people are treated unfairly becuase of their use of a given benefit.
The one-up discussions of who has given up more for the company, as some sick badge of honor, is ridiculous.
If we had mandatory time off in all businesses, in America, then it might lower the stresses and let you have more of what you dream.
But I'm a pessimist and fully imagine that something else will come along and fill that missing stress.
Nice Sentiments. The people should have the right to question government, and the methods of government selection in this free country don't you. The poster was suggesting modifying the system to prevent career politicians, and thus provide a greater choice of electable representatives. Moving to China, as you so eloquently suggest, would not help, as they brook no dissent from the masses.
I feel that it's you, who has lost the plot of this country - a strong, well informed public, working to safeguard democracy from the tyrany of government, is essential in any country. If you aren't patriotic enough to do this, it is you who are neglecting youtr civic duty. And why ship people abroad - one nation, indivisible, remember.
And hey, this is a republic.
Nicely done.
This guy most likely has a confederate battle flag sticker on his truck right next to the sticker that says proud to be an American. It just tickles me to no end when I see that.

Knots have been a hobby of mine for years. I was on vacation recently and saw a book (in my all-time favorite bookstore) about the mathmatics of knots.

Sounds fishy to me. (I had to say it and I know I'm going to hell.)

Isn't this the kind of convienence that computer people have wanted for years? I think it's fantastic. Bragging rights go to Apple. Now I can easily go around to my 250 desktops and load, or re-load, office in minutes.
I'm happy for them and wish them the best, but c'mon. Proposing on valentines day and Taco posting it to slashdot is about as original as giving someone a gift for christmas. I would think that anything else is more creative and original. I am , however, enjoying the comments and do appreciate that. Again, I hope they have the best of times.
I work for state gov. also. If you have any skills, you should be able to sell fun projects there with no problem. Our state is having big budget problems. It's our perfect opportunity to get Linux, PHP, and new ideas to be heard, and seriously considered. Budget problems have given us unbelievable opportunities. Guess what, it makes the job fun.
Don't go through your career thinking that someone is going to make it fun for you. Nerf toy time might be fun, but you will have to make the time up.
Here is a bright idea, try and start your own company. See how much toy time you get. Keep it in perspective.
We burn the images to bootable CD's or we have a bootable CD that pulls the image across the network. We tried using the external drives but found that it wasn't as convienient or as fast as carrying a couple of CD's around. Besides, we always have our CD cases with us.
Glad someone else remembers this. I was going to link to it too.
It was a good NOVA episode. It keeps coming up after the recent TED talk about automated trading.

Yes, it must be nice.

Dell won't service my sever. They say it's too sticky and covered with some sort of slime. :(
Special is a good movie. I also thought it had the best title for thwarting file sharing search engines.

In other news, AOL is bogged down from new membership surge and a sudden increase in reactivating unused accounts.

That 30 digit code is the same as the version number of IE installed on my machine.

I couldn't believe it when I saw a full page add in Linux Magazine for slashdot an now this!
I still like slashdot and will visit almost daily but I don't see things staying the same.
Maybee things will get better after slashdot goes through it "Mall Rats" phase.
Might as well as prepare for the worst. Sometimes they are tasteless but they seem to fit.
