Review: Civilization V

I have a feeling we're going to see new leaders sold as well, with new traits. I remember in CIV IV everything was customizable, a lot of that appears lacking in V, I assume to boost sales through add-ons
Heavy consumer of oil. I'm also a believer in global warming and hope it continues. I've come to the realization that mankind will advance faster when pushed to the brink of extinction. We will not die out, you have to be pretty naive to underestimate mans potential to adapt and survive. We are the disaster species.
Seriously though, people need to educate themsleves a little more on the cycle of life on this planet.
Residents/Fisherman should be thankful that BP was financially responsible for this disaster. They did cause it this time but oil leaking from the sea floor, and sometimes in large quanities, is a natural phenomenon. Oil seep has happened before and it will happen again. People on the gulf coast should count their blessings another natural disaster didn't strike them instead of this manmade acceleration.
I understand them not wanting to go through the hassle of wire transfers for everyone, that's where the ease of credit cards come in. I think it's good of them to offer this fee avoiding method to big time users. They're obviously passing the savings back onto the user in the form of bonus.
As for the complaints about wasting money... how much do you pay for cable tv every month? At least these games are social and interactive.
I don't play any zynga games myself but do play some free MMO's and pay-to-play MMO's as well and have no problem spending money on things I enjoy. And no.. I do not pay for cable tv, and only use my tv set for netflix and console.
Only upside for BP for going forward. All the partners have refused to take any responsibility and I think BP will only gain as more evidence points towards other than just at themeselves.
He should have sued the government for impeding the performance of his vehicle (by adding the weight of the device and also altering the aerodynamics of his car).
Any intelligence great enough for us to have seen (overcoming the static in space) has already wiped any trace of itself out of this dimension and has probably shut itself off due to boredom.
My phone has this feature for free (rooted Droid X) I imagine everyones phone will provide this feature in a couple of years. This is just another tool for car buyers to waste their money on cheap features manufacturers can tack onto the car. (GPS comes to mind)
Anyone have any benchmarks? I know Darpa has that new mind controlled robot arm. I'd like to see some performance numbers from that vs. a beefed up regenerating organic arm. I need more crush power to... oh wait.. I control crap with my thoughts don't I... I think preservation of existing tissue is more useful than growing new imo.
Holy %&^%!
These findings suggest that while stress hormones can be detrimental to the brain, these effects can be overridden if whatever experiences triggered them were pleasant.
Animals that haven't spread their genes are stressed and animals that have aren't as stressed. That's gods work for sure.
Not sure how it'd hurt apple to offer a free version of their operating system that is ad supported. I bet schools would even jump on this to start saving some money. Hell maybe Apple would cut them in on some fo the revenue for advertising to their captive teen audience.
An anonymous reader noted a report confirming the first ever exoplanet actually photographed from telescopes on earth.
If you still don't know how to read into the media's game of provacative article titles I truly pity you.
USPS filed suit against BP last Saturday in an attempt to get BP to pay for USPS Saturday delivery. The reasoning proposed is with the decrease in tourism in the gulf states fewer vacationers are sending postcards north. BREAKING NEWS: Consortium of postcard manufacturers expresses interest in joining suit.
Must have been to pricey to hire Indian resources to even screen the data coming in. Congrats to refin for being another duplicator instead of innovator.
I remember finding it a bit creepy/amusing when I was having an argument through gmail with my ex and ads for counseling and relationship therapy were appearing.
So now when you use Chrome to shop the web for a new refridgerator you're going to see whirlpool ads during your favorite shows. Seems smooth to me. Wonder how risque they'll get with their allowed advertisers;)
Don't forget the help of the token traitor to their race who assists the humans:P
I watched pretty much all of the show when I was younger and am reminded of it now and then by articles like this.
I stick Apple and Sony together since they love making up their own proprietary stuff. I see Nintendo as living more hand in hand with Googles approach.. and MS is just... MS.

How many other potential sources of news /. submitters are missing.

I was worried the accident had ignited the atmoshpere and there was a wall of fire coming for me now. Whew!
Alien (1979) http://io9.com/355353/you-have-ten-seconds-to-reach-minimum-safe-distance By the shape of the nostromo and the large flat platform at the base I'm going to say that they had it right before any of those others.

I believe she just finished her last film up so if we need more hackers let's get her on it.

The extra digits wouldn't have fit in the twitter annoucement so they decided to settle for a bit less.
This is dire news indeed. I wish the article has discussed possible solutions to the lack of porn found on the internet
