It didn't make sense, the thing you just said. The author is proposing an easier flow to accepting self-signed certificates. How could that defeat the purpose of having a CA?

I am just thinking of something like Linked-in or Facebook for certificates. You create a network of trust and you could see visually who the web of trust is associated with. That way you could self-sign a certificate, but get a friend to trust it and in turn you vouch for trust his/hers and so on. Certain entities might trump this web, such as paying entities, since this creates a a financial record identifying who the party is.

It is truly a case of fighting piracy. Anybody who thinks otherwise is severely delusional.

Although I don't own a DS, I can say I do know some owners and they are using hacks to allow the use of pirated games. Sure one or two of them are using the hack to use Linux, but I doubt that's what most people are using them for. One of the reasons cited is that if they were to pay for all the games they played they would be broke.

If SD chips are really getting that cheap, why don't magazines start including them with demos? At least that way gamers could try the games before coughing up the money.

What gets on my nerves on companies that use client side Visual Basic (VB) in their web pages. This sort of thing screams incompatibility all over it, since it will only ever work on IE on MS-Windows. When some of these companies are quizzed their response translates to "they could not care less". One company with this attitude is "Project InVision", so steer clear of their time sheet application.

For me, I test my application first with Firefox, followed by Safari and Opera. IE gets treated last because I know its going to be a headache. I don't test with Linux specific browsers, since I don't have access to a Linux box to so, and I feel if it is working in the four major browsers, then there is a chance something is broken in the browser I didn't test with - maybe not a great attitude, but there are only so many hours in a day.

Since when are these things mutually exclusive? You can have both, play both, and enjoy both.

I do just that. Each type of gaming has something going for it. With friends over we sometimes sit in front of the TV and play a console game; other times we are just happy to get away from the screen (computer and TV) and just enjoy a good board game. Some board games that come to mind include 'Settlers of Catan' and Risk.

  16. Re:But the games! on Wii Is the New US Console Leader · · Score: 1

Well that may be, but mario kart as a series has sucked for a long time, it's designed so that no matter how bad you are you can still compete. This is done by making there be 'catch up' for slower racers and of course, the INSANE items that kill the entire track. Don't bother. Play old games and PC games instead.

Mario Kart is not a traditional racing game. Mario Kart is about 'cheating' to get first. So sure you can go from 1st to 12th by being hit by a blue shell or going up the race positions thanks to a speeding bullet, but that is what the game is about. If you want a pure racing game, then Mario Kart is most certainly not the game you want to be playing. I would love to see some traditional racing games for the Wii, that take advantage of the Wii Wheel, but I think we are going to have to wait a bit.

As a side comment, one thing that is interesting to note is that most of the popular games for the Wii are actually from Nintendo. This can mean one of two things: Nintendo understands its user base well or third parties just aren't writing enough good software for the platform.
