Heheh. Quick change artistry here. The $27 paid by the salesmen equals the $25 room rate plus the $2 "tip" to the bell hop. That plus the $3 returned adds up to the original $30.
Here's one that I think came from a Martin Gardner column:
A man is taken prisoner and told that he will die sometime next week, Monday through Friday, but he won't know which day until they come to take him away to be executed.
He thinks for a minute, then is comforted, thinking they can't possibly kill him under those constraints, reasoning thus:
I can't be executed on Friday, because if Monday through Tursday pass, and I haven't been killed yet, then I will know that I will die on Friday, but they said I wouldn't know, so Friday is out.
Therefore, I can only be executed on one of the days Monday through Thursday. But it can't be Thursday for the same reason that it can't be Friday, because by then I would know.
Each of the rest of the days are likewise eliminated.
However, on Wednesday, they came and executed the prisoner. And sure enough, he didn't know what day he would be executed until they came for him.
> I don't think this time regulated random generators use atomic clocks, GPS or NTP...
I dunno, I've been using my CryptoCard for 3 and a half years now to log in to senstive computer services here at work, and it hasn't lost sync yet. I haven't even had to replace the battery yet..
When is the Linux port of Tornado gonna be released?
In order to do VxWorks development with my Linux box, I had to build my own cross-compiler and copy all the target runtime libraries over. Good thing I know how to compile on the command line and use Makefiles......
Hmmm.. I'll bet what you need to make you feel better is some of Professor Smith's Patented Emulsified Snake Oil (cures all manner of discomfort and sickness, you know).
WTF? Why does a recording device need a subscription to do its thang? Y'all shoulda knowed this was a-comin' if'n it needed a "subscription" to keep it a-workin'.
Heh. According to the chart on that PDF, they have the Ham bands notched out. Good! But what about the rest of the HF spectrum? There are other users of HF radio besides Hams....
Also, I'd be worried that hams and other HF users would be causing interference to the BPL.

No there is no fallacy. 0.999.... actually *is* equal to 1.
Think about what infinity imples...

Where did his reasoning go wrong?
When you take the square root of a number you have 2 solutions. You have to consider both.
Well, the canonical answer is that the round ones can't fall into the manhole. whereas other shapes can...

Google used to be cool?
I woulda went, but I think my US Passport is expired.
Wait! I thought defenestration meant replacing the default OS on a PC with Linux...
It would be nice to have an Inkscape plugin (or some such) for The GIMP....

Here, have a swig...
So... What else is new?
I'd rather have cheaper prices and faster uploads....
...money is what makes you happy?
I go to look at the Patent, and the want to "embed" the pictures instead of just "img src=..." them.
So how do you get Firefox to show these?
WTF?

Developers! Developers! Developers....!
Good thing you aren't really dumb, then. You might've ended up a college professor!
I mean, way back in the 60s it only took 9 years, and look at how technology has advanced since then!
Geez! What's wrong with these NASA scientists these days?

I just don't see how BPL can ever be workable.
Yeah, Nature. She's a Mother...
Why do you think Katrina was so successful in destroying New Orleans? It was a secret military project, and George Bush ordered it.
"It makes it difficult for those of us using free drivers to keep up with."
That's the point - Bwahahaha...
For my money, I'd make sure it was SANE compatible. Screw TWAIN.
