Dr Suess was probably spinning in his grave about that.

Could you imagine what he would have said if somebody came up with the pitch to him "Lets take one of your most beloved works, and turn it in to a typical shit Hollywood overhyped super marketed movie"

It would probably be along the lines of "lets make a charming inexpesivemovie and show it for free on PBS"

You could proably get star power to act for free in a Dr Suess movie if it was being done like that too.

I just don't have the impression that Suess would like his properties used by mega-corps to bilk the masses out of their money.

I would take a ban on commercial skipping if in exchange there was also a ban on network IDs that take up 20% of the screen, and make loud noises over quite talking at key points in the show. If people keep skipping adds we will get big banner adds on TV and it will piss me off far more then commercials, that is not a revenue model I want.

I do have a Tivo at home, and skip the commercials, so it's not as if I like them, it is just that I prefer them to what is slowly inching it;s way into the shows themself.

In interviews they talk about the casting prossess.

They have hand drawn pictures of the characters and made the actors do a scene. When the static images jumped off the paper witht he voice that was their actor. Also worth noting is little if any effort goes into making the characters look like the actors. They do the characters and then get the voices.

Their attention to detail is pretty good too. For example Monsters inc has architecture based off of the 50's here because it is an industrial society in decline.

Last interesting tidbit is that they design a plot around the technology, but in a way that fits. For example for Toy Story they were only capable of doing plastic looking CGI, therefore they used toys. In Monsters Inc they were able to do natural looking fur. Originally the monsters were going to have more animal like fur, but bright colors was deamed to be more fun.
