    That's kind.

    Gas cans are way over priced at any gas station I've been to. Something about, you just walked two miles here, and you don't want to walk ten more to somewhere else.

    I assume much of the cost is getting the umbrella to the rental device.

    even so, it seems high, considering they placed the initial 300,000 for 10 million, and they also used that money to develop and place the infrastructure,

    The market price is the lowest price a current holder is willing to accept.

    A buy out is the amount the shareholder that wants the most is willing to accept.

    Of course it's higher.

    Amazon wants profitable warehousing and distribution for a wider Prime Fresh Footprint.

    they may even be able to make whole foods more profitable.

    But total energy stored seems like a reasonable way to measure the size of a battery.

    I assume they make sure all other things are reasonably in spec, and then sell the unit as amount of energy (KWH).

    I've heard this too, but someone told me I was wrong (on this very forum) using an anecdote of a good station in their area.

    I don't know the truth, just putting that out there.

    Until then I believed that cross fading and over talking were required, but now I do not know.

  10. I had two jawbone headsets, I was quite happy with them, what killed them was the march of tech.

    The last headset I owned was 90% as good and 1/5 the cost.

    I appreciated the good noise cancellation (when speaking) and AD2P streaming when it was rare, and it was easily worth the money, but it was never going to be worth the money a year later when Plantronics had decent sets at $20-30.

    Spotify is 320kbps, and I assume uses a better algorithm than MP3, why would it be worse than dismal MP3 quality?

    I wonder what the median retirement age for a car is.

    I bet it is around 14 or so years (200k miles @ 15k/year)

    1) Of course, nobody was saying it's good, in fact it's the whole reason they closed the access in the article. It's a terrible thing to do, but there is no difficulty to it
    2) They're all over the counter, and agreed
    3) as they should
    4) it's more than a bit creepy I'd say.
    5) Because I've taken benadryl and NyQuil, and my sister used to need Dramamine when we traveled (for its intended purpose)

    I'm not endorsing their use for this situation, simply saying the idea that we can only get pepto or tylonal OTC is kinda crazy. Caugh medicine for example will mess one up.

    That's more in line with what I'd expected.

    I wish it gave a median and not an average, but some quick googling gives 25% of cars on the road over 16 years old.

    11.7 years vs 8 already makes 3 replacements turn into 2, but if the average car is that age in the US, they must typically be used until quite a bit older.

    8 years seems short.

    That's 160k miles of heavy driving, but only 96k of average.

    Do cars really get scrapped under 150k miles now adays?

    My last car didn't really even need much in the way of service until last there, and even my 96 Saturn was pretty cheap to keep on the road until I sold it at 150k

    millennials make 65% of gen X (inflation adjusted person in their 20s today vs someone in their 20s 30 years ago).

    they also were told to expect a comfortable modern life. That's what they're doing.

    I'm trying to picture the phone conversation when I call my friend at 2:30 (am or pm) and tell them to drive ten minutes to get to me, simply to drive me five minutes.

    Sounds like a dick move on my part.

    I started using lyft because neither service pays enough (what I feel is fair), but lyft allows above board tipping. And no need for cash to do it.

    The model Y will be what you're looking for I suspect.

    maybe still out of your price range, but a small crossover, though based on the X, it will be far more car that I SUV in its cross.

    Do people not live in apartments or condos in Europe?

    In small cities even many of the houses don't have reserved parking here.

    I think that's the largest barrier to EV ownership.

    the range is a red herring that people who don't drive in real life use I think. They're unaware of the concept of a rental, they don't really grasp how far 200 miles is.

    The real people that this is unsuitable for are street parkers, many renters, and those that live in a condo or apartment. I'm hoping to convert my back yard into a drive way so I can get an electric car, but in my area, only about 1/3 of the population has that option, and we're in a car needed city.
