I think you're right but I don't understand what their products do except remove Windows viruses from Word files and such. Are there any specific Mac security issues addressed by Symantec products (and not addressed by Apple OS X Security Updates)? Anything. Virus, worm, etc. Even just one? Does Symantec have a website to tell you what their virus checker is actually checking for? I remember using Disinfectant under MacOS 6-8 and there was always a list of viruses in every version updated whenever new ones hit the wild. I would not be surprised to learn that Symantec still checks for nVIR A, B, WDEF, and other old-MacOS-specific viruses that are no longer relevant to OSX. I just have a hard time figuring out what this product actually does while the progress bar is running to convince the user it is cleaning up dangerous viruses.

You won't find a (reasonable) Christian minister who cheers at the sight of gruesome civilian deaths, but it's not hard to find an imam outside of the US who does cheer when a child blows up a pizzarea.

You won't find a (reasonable) imam that does the same. There are plenty of unreasonable Christian ministers who do this; the beloved Reverend Phelps is just the most tragicomically extreme of this genre. And perhaps at this historical moment there are a helluva lot more unreasonable imams preaching same than there are unreasonable ministers (though look at the rhetoric spouted by such holy men during the crusades and you'll see things weren't always that way). In any case my point is that the imams who do preach that shit are unreasonable fanatics, and, as you note at the end of your post, most Muslims do not support this garbage.

The difference is also about the technology. The GPL does not cripple linux programs so they can only be used under certain conditions.

Secondly, the GPL is not a ToS. The GPL in no way restricts your use of software; it simply restricts the distribution of it (and in fact it actually restricts said distribution less than normal copyright law, which would apply if there were no GPL in place). Do not confuse the GPL with a EULA.
