I ordered a mini about 2 weeks ago, scheduled to arrive 3 weeks after I purchased it (i.e. next week of course). The big question is, will I have to pay for tiger? I'm guessing (hoping!) not.

Actually, the Nobel prize was Alfred Nobel's attempt to make up for his regret about the fact that dynamite was used by terrorists and governments in war. Dynamite had plenty of legitimate uses in construction but he was uncomfortable with the uses of it for violence, and gave the fortune that he made in dynamite to the fund for the Nobel prize. So while dynamite doesn't tarnish the Nobel prize, its use by terrorists actually did tarnish Nobel himself (at least in his own mind), and the Nobel prize was sort of a way of redeeming him.
I can't read a word of it, but how can you go wrong with that somersaulting Tux animation? I say throw caution to the wind -- install it right away and convert all your main boxes to Sarang linux. That is, umm, if it actually is a distro.

My Power Tower Pro 225 still runs great. I don't boot it much but when I do I have my choice of OS 8.5.1, Linux, or BeOS. And I don't know what you mean by absolute crap - it runs great, had no hardware problems, and plenty of expandability (I had it full of hard drives and PCI cards back in the day).
Be sure to use linux tools like apm to configure power consumption on your laptop -- often if you're running a standard distribution these tools are not configured properly for laptop use. More information here.
Crystal Quest was an AWESOME game. I wonder if anyone has ported or cloned it for OS X...
Not that I'm aware of but I have played it under OSX using vMac! Not quite as fun as the original -- it goes too damn fast -- but still brings back the old memories....
