  5. BUGTRAQ's cookie issue in MSIE 5+ on IE 5.5 Tracking Default Bookmarks · · Score: 4
    I've been following an interesting thread on BUGTRAQ about something similar to this, it seems that Microsoft is tracking alot of your web browsing habits, you are able to turn cookies off in IE 5+ but MS can still track your movements... a message that really caught my eye follows:

    "Guille Bisho" wrote in message

    news:39B84795.8A32DC4F@redestb.es...

    (snip possible good catch)

    Good possiblity something fishy going on there. The XMLHTTP object is installed and registered with IE5 and functions without prompt under default settings. The example code below will send an HTTP request to MS, fetch and parse as html the response:

    &ltscript&gt
    function SubmitTrackingInfo(){
    var objHTTP = new ActiveXObject
    ("Microsoft.XMLHTTP")
    objHTTP.open("GET", "http://www.microsoft.com", false)
    objHTTP.send()
    xmlDoc=objHTTP.responseText
    document.write("" + xmlDoc + "")
    }
    SubmitTrackingInfo()
    &lt/script&gt

    In the case of the search.msn.com example. There is additional data being sent back to the server: objHTTP.send("BSTR")}function fnInit(store). Clearly the name of the function firing all this: "SubmitTrackingInfo" can suggest some things. More so the recent "ballyhoo'd" anouncement by MS to allow greater control over privacy for their customers, with the addition of a "cookie" privacy control add-on for Internet Explorer 5:

    http://www. microsoft.com/presspass/features/2000/jul00/07-20c ookies.asp

    So, while _everyone_ else's "cookies" are curtailed by this privacy add-on for Internet Explorer, Microsoft's operations utilise this method of 'non-cookie" tracking?

    Conspiracy theory of course ;-) but perhaps worth investigating thoroughly by someone with experience as to what exactly is going on?

Cyberwear is not common, you don't have "Spells" either. You control "Spheres" like say I wanted to turn you into a chair, I would need a good concept of Life, Matter, and I'd need some Quintisential energy (Prime) to do such a thing, and then I would suffer a HECK of a backlash, as reality told me "Stupid shit, you can't do that!" .. (Paradox) Alot of the facts in this "Review" (if you can call it that, it's about 5 years+ too late) are mixed up. If you want more information on Mage: The Ascention visit White Wolf's Website or e-mail me, I'll be more than happy to explain the real truth about this wonderful pen and paper game.

    now, is this the windows 2000 version of dos? that runs any game that uses a DOS box at 1/2 the speed or not at all?

    There's something wrong with that, now all game deisgners are going to be forced to
    A: write patches so the games work in windows ME
    B: design games to the MS WinME specifications, (and of course, have to pay M$ more money to get those specifications)
    C: force the price of games up even more, due to A and B.

    I'm not a huge gamer, but I have noticed many games don't run on Win2k because of the 'dos' prompt issues.

    I know that at least 25 of these 28 machines were to have hard drives hooked up to them, I don't know if Netpliance already has the money from circuit city, or if cc is just holding on to it ... all I know is Netpliance is going to see all their income DROP like a brick through glass when these I-openers do come back into stock.

    In my opinion Netpliance should have done the following:

    1: sell the I-opener at $99 to those who sign up for at least 2 years of service.

    2: sell the i-opener for $149 to those who sign up for 1 year of service

    3: sell the i-opener at $199 to those who don't sign up for service

    that way they will make some money off their products, instead of knowing that they will have to dig themselves out of a BIG BLACK HOLE in the coming 6 months ... put everything back to the way it should be ... heck .. I'd pay $199 for one, it's still better than the old Packard Bell we have sitting on our shelves for $450 ...!
