The problem with the comparison is that you have to use Rambust in pairs of 2, so comparing 128 meg sticks is slightly misleading. You should compare 1 SDRAM 128 at $15 with 2x64 for the same amount of memory, which makes it cost $74 as opposed to $59. So Rambust is even more expensive than first reported.
Is it me or is there a strong familial resemblance between Jerry Sanders and Colonel Sanders? Maybe the Colonel faked his own death to take over AMD?
Think about it.
Can't you people see this is just the first step in Gates' plan for World Domination? They control the ballots, it'll be a bigger sham than gwbushs' presidency.:p
Get yourself a high speed connection (DSL/Cable) and setup your own webserver. Wherever I go, I have access to all 60gigs of my high quality MP3s (thanks LAME). I even put them in tarballs by album for ease of downloading.
The really sad part about the resistance to Java is that the excellent work of the Blackdown Project, Kaffe and projects like Java Gnome seem understaffed, yet Linux is one of the best platforms for running Java. Linux as a platform beats out most other platforms (like Solaris and NT), as seen in the latest Volano Report. And Java as a language keeps getting faster vs. C all the time. If Sun would finally realize Java is bigger than they are, Java would finally get the recognition it deserves.
After seeing the
link about reprogramming the eeprom I started thinking. Why don't we just create a script that randomizes the serial code for your cuecat everytime you use it, filling their database with junk.
Just a thought...

There never was any suspense, it was just a matter of time. The author of the article made it sound like they were going to avoid it for some reason, and sounded surprised when the responses came quickly and succinctly stated it would be included ASAP. Get over it people, Debian had some issues with the old license but that's in the past. Move on, nothing to see here but progress as usual.

It's probably gone up since then, but when I was a waiter 8 years ago in Texas I made $2.10 an hour. On a good day I'd make $10 or more an hour, but there were a few days when I made less than $4.25 an hour for the day.
One of the features that would probably encourage more people to try it is if POP3 left the mail on the server (or the option was at least available.). I didn't see anywhere to post bugs/requests, or I would have posted at Helix. Looks pretty sharp though, I'm thinking I'll switch over in a few more releases.
Quake has been GPL'd, why not use FPS at 640x480 in software mode? The machine gets a good workout and you test many features at a time. Use a standardized config and demo (crusher2?) and a known version (is it in CVS?) and you have a standard, cross-platform benchmark that is at least fun to watch. Works for me.
Pinkerton brass say they have read each of the Slashdot comments and want to talk.
They're probably just confused about this whole Natalie Portman/Hot Grits thing and they figure Katz knows what's going on with that. Soon we'll be overrun with Pinkerton employees making first posts. We'll have to introduce a new post type, Anonymous Fink.
That kid at the bottom in the middle looks like he's about to snap. Probably because he feels like a tool for being a poster boy for the Pinkerton "Rat-Out-Your-Friends" Movement.
Once I started to get wrist pain for 10 hour coding days, I had to switch to a better keyboard. Since work had lots of M$ keyboards around I decided to try it and was very unimpressed. It just feels cheap. Surprisingly, I really liked the ergonomic keyboards from CompUSA (EP35015G). The layout is a little more intuitive, the keyboards a bit higher and the buttons a little more solid.
If you're a heavy emacs user or you just don't like the way your keyboard is layed out, make sure you check out xmodmap (under NetBSD, I know there's something equivalent under Linux) and remap those keys (who really needs a capslock? mine's ctrl). No more pinkie stress. Now if I could just remap the windows keys to something useful.
Luckily my work doesn't filter anything and the Katz article wasn't half bad. But this: Geeks just had the biggest IPO in history [Linux]??!!? I sure hope that was added by Playboy and not Katz. It continues to amaze me that people can't distinguish the many companies selling Linux from Linux. Seriously though, slashdot is getting to the point where moderation is just being used to keep the flames down, without much moderation up anymore. F.O.Dobbs

That might explain all the typos.
Even better. This seems to be pretty solid evidence of the Pentaveret, a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world.

have to pay so much for a BeOS cd.
Now it's up to the Bitboys to give us the hardware competition we need.

I dunno... foosball seems to make work go quite a bit faster. I mean really, how bad can work be if I spend an hour a day playing foosball?

There seems to be a distributed DoS attack on Tom's going on right now ;p
