The only reason I'd want this is if Tivo never supports HD. So which cards are going to work for an HD solution? pchdtv.com's? Hauppage's new digital card? I for one, don't plan on respecting a broadcast flag. I've been looking at playing with either Freevo or MythTV just so I can switch over eventually. Freevo is written in Python (possibly easier to extend) but MythTV seems a little more mature. Anyone know of a good comparison?
virginmobile.com has pay as you go phones. The cheapest is ~$60. They can recieve unlimited SMS messages. Yahoo has free alerts. I get scores, news and weather for free daily, plus it's a cell phone with an events calendar which is all I needed from a PDA. No monthly fees. Nuff said.
This is kinda old news, it was covered in the book The Third Chimpanzee by Jared M. Diamond. He talks about the similiarities in the genome, plus the differences that do exist in other traits. He maintains that chimps, bonobos and humans belong in the genus Trogolodyte, but humans made the genus Homo because they didn't really want to think of themselves so close to the chimps. Really interesting book though.
Power users won't have a problem with this. Either this will be easy to block with Mozilla or only work with IE or people will get so fed up that it'll peter out quickly. I've been using Mozilla so long it's always a harsh shock when I use IE and pop-ups start cluttering everything. But I'm sure there'll be plenty of people who get used to sitting through this crap and it'll catch on.
Maybe we could get David Duke out of jail and assigned to the Justice Department to work on Civil Rights cases. Sometimes I feel like Bush is trying his damndest to not get re-elected. Poindexter, Kissinger and now this? Incredible.
The kicker for KB is that the registers are diskless and old. They're using a mix of Etherboot, Busybox and SuSE to run. Once we get out of beta testing, there'll be many press releases thanking all the Open Source projects that made their setup possible.
Lines is the perfect theme for me. I run Gnome/Sawfish with nothing but a single edge panel set to "tiny" for launching apps and keeping track of my desktops. Throw this in with Xinerama and I'm only wasting 24x1200 pixels out of 3200x1200. Key shortcuts are your friend.
Unless they've changed the format, there's a set of tools for Windows that converts Liquid Audio files straight to.WAV. I used them to burn some of my legally purchased Liquid Audio files on CDs and make MP3s of them (for XMMS). Look for a2b2wav and other such tools on Google.
I use Potato at work because I can't afford to have my workstation down, and that's something that I've had on my Woody machines a few times for various broken packages that sneak in. When I get to work, I don't wonder if my machine is going to work when I turn it on (unlike some of the w2k people here). It always works, and that's why I stick with stable.
Like the lottery, it's a tax on people who think they can get something for nothing or aren't good at math. I think the SEC's fake websites should solicit money, then use the money to pay for public service announcements telling people about online scams, and they have a list of people who need more education (talk about a targetted demographic). A fool and his money are easily parted, but at least we can educate the fool.
Winders 95 came with my first PC (1995), and that was the last time I paid the M$ tax. Ever since I got broadband (3 years ago) I haven't bought a Linux CD.
Before that I shelled out $10 for a Redhat install manual with free Redhat 5.1 CDs (LSL.com) and once I got free Debian Slink CDs from LSL (plus $9 for shipping).
But I have bought a lot more Linux shwag (thinkgeek and the lot, tshirts, hats and stickers) than windows (none).
Linux appliances don't seem to be the sure-sell that everyone thought they would be.
It doesn't matter if they're running Linux, BeOS or WinCE. No Internet appliances have taken off they way they were predicted. Paying $300 for an appliance when you can get a full featured computer for $400 is a really hard sell.
When are we going to see some price drops? Sony is going to have to lower their price to be more attractive vs. the $299 xbox and the $199 nintendo. I just don't see the ps2 as that competitive at its current price of $289 (as seen on pricescan.com).

She says that in ten years, 20% of our clothes will incorporate some kind of electronic components.
Of course. What else are we going to plug into our flying cars?

I've always wanted a chair that looked like it came from the set of Dead Ringers.

I may be using a bleeding edge browser (Phoenix nightlies), but I do believe there seems to be missing content here.

Don't you mean
/etc/apt/sources.list
/etc/apt/sources.list
echo "deb http://mplayer.nmeos.net/ unstable main" >>
but since that doesn't seem to work anymore, try
echo "deb http://marillat.free.fr/ unstable main" >>

Maybe not a monitor, but definitely multiple monitors. Thanks for Xinerama XFree86! (I sure hope all these monitors don't give me cancer)

Why is this modded down? It works for Mozilla and it answered his question. Thanks omidk.
Where can I get a reg code for this? Anybody got a good warez site for this one?
Oh wait, wrong game.
According to Moore's Law we should hit 100 ghz in about 9 years (assuming 2ghz*2^6).
