  1. Er, not defunct.... on Fanmade Thief 2 Expansion Released · · Score: 3, Informative
Through the Looking Glass is not defunct. Neither is the Thief series (althought it is arguably complete now.)

Looking Glass Studios is gone, although many of the employees did wind up working for Ion Storm Austin on Thief 3.

Big congrats to the the T2X team though, who started all this back when we weren't sure there'd be a T3. I look forward to playing this (and the Circle of Stone and Shadow, if that's ever finished....)

Go google, "rapture of the deep."

Well, actually, I googled "raptures of the deep," and the summary on the fifth hit is: Beyond this depth a condition known as nitrogen narcosis (popularly called "raptures of the deep"). Thus replacing the nitrogen with helium for deep dives. (the bends, BTW, is caused by all gasses coming out of solution, not just nitrogen). Pressure would be something of an issue for this rig, as it appears to work by reducing pressure to extract the oxygen. Presumably they've thought of that, though.

This is one of the greatest things I'm looking forward to as hybrids and electrics (hopefully) catch on. I *hope* they'll lead to a quieter roadway environment where maybe, just maybe, the types of Neanderthal antisocial behaviour that's tolerated today will become less acceptable. Hey, I can dream!

Had a Prius pull up next to me at a stoplight the other day. Was quiet to start with, then I had a brief "wait, where did that car go?" moment when the gasoline engine shut off. Very cool.

Still wrong. They started seeing signatures of the termination shock in Feb 2003 and thought they might be encountering it, but weren't sure. It's hard to find something when you don't know what you're looking for. The data from December are VERY clear: DOY 349, inside termination shock. DOY 351, outside. Unfortunately, there was a data gap at the actual shock crossing. All of the figures they showed yesterday had very distinct labels: heliosphere, TS, heliosheath, and the shock crossing was at most a couple of days.

Try using pilot-link first, see if it finds the device, and look at the logs to see what happens when you press the hotsync button (remember to press it before starting pilot-xfer).

Given that the Rangers were primarily an infiltration and espionage group, with heavy martial arts/spiritual emphasis, a primitive weapon made a fair bit of sense. When it came down to sheer damage dealing, they had White Stars :)

What we need is a really cheap, really good e-book reader that accepts multiple and non-proprietary formats.

Any PalmOS device, plus Plucker for HTML and Weasel for text. Weasel's screen-wrap autoscroll is hands-down the best way I've ever found to read e-texts. Plucker's autoscroll isn't as pretty IMO.

Then there's of course the proprietary readers for DocBook and MobiPocket and I would guess PDF, although I haven't bothered with that.

I can carry about ten books on my 8MB Visor, which keeps me busy for quite awhile. Only problem is what to do during takeoff/landing--I usually carry a single dead tree while I'm at it. One book+one palm is reading material for a couple of weeks.
