Some of us plan things out so they don't have to move things 40000000 times. My desk is far heavier than my computer to move. SFF is a niche market; it's useful for people on the move a lot, especially coupled with the hibernate feature, but other than that, it's not really vital.
Yes, but once you buy a firewire enclosure, the size argument of the mini starts to go out the window. Might as well buy a bit bigger case and have better latency for your hard drive.
It's probably an issue of something that was locked in some anonymous file cabinet and lost after Mother Russia passed on. couple personell moves, and files can grow legs.
This is done with COTS parts. There are smaller PCs made by boutique makers, y'know. and they're faster than the mac mini, too. Check it out for yourself, they've been around for years too. Once again, apple's playing catchup in the innovation department.
Yes, such a waste of perfectly good hardware. I mean, the nano-itx motherboard deserves a better case than that.

Linux is free. And for the Mac mini to compete, you've got to add an irda adapter, a serial convertor, and a parallel convertor. It's price comparable. I was saying that they were similar products that existed at similar price points. The mac has a slight price advantage now due to the fact that this is segment of the market that hasn't really been tapped before, but the advantage will be short-lived. Finally, I personally prefer tray-loading, as the mechanism is more reliable and I can play damn near anything on it.

Uh, the mocha 5043 is smaller than the mini. 5.75" x 6.18" x 2.28" is smaller than 6.5x6.5x2 . And a 40GB hard drive is not that expensive; adding one still makes the mocha price competitive with the Mini.

Did you bother reading the whole page? Or is your knowledge of PCs stuck in 2001 so you can claim mac superiority? Face it, the mac mini is nothing new to the PC market, it's only got Apple's marketing machine and mac users' selective amnesia behind it.
I've got my doubts as to the legitimacy of the video, however, this could have been made for the tradeshow circuit, instead of the television circuit. Trade shows have been known to have slightly off-kilter advertisements in there, such as parodies of TV commercials, and this would fit in fairly nicely.
Sorry, I got my court cases screwed up, was thinking of a different court case which did throw out the entire federal income tax and necessitated the federal income tax amendment.
And spelling flames remind me of the words of that great man, Andrew Jackson -- It's a damn poor mind that can think of only one way to spell a word"
Uh, the supreme court decision is why there was a federal income tax ammendment a year later. What I don't understand is why the truth-allergic leftist is so drawn to the internet.
Canons have user replaceable printheads. They're kind of expensive, however, so usually, it's worth it just to buy a new printer when the head finally dies.
I imagine for safety sake, the drive selector is still going to be hand controlled. Much safter when you can put a car into neutral because the computer just died on you.
All of the new products have similar silly disclaimers. The mini mac has a disclaimer stating that hands are not included. This silliness should only be discouraged. Let the stuffy ones grow cunts and fuck themselves.
Actually, what's happened here is this exploit takes advantage of other exploits, similar to how a local root can be made to become a remote root under many conditions. This demo actually is the EXP/Phel-A trojan, only invoked in an interesting way.
I don't think they're trying to get around personal antispan filters, but rather ISP filters. Sicne ISPs are more sensitive to the issue of false positives, creating a bunch of crap messages throws off the baysean analysis and can potentially increase the chances of false positives. While you may not want spam and won't click on spam, Joe Blow who gets his mail from a big ISP may simply use his ISP's spam filters, and may click on those messages which are spam.
192khz can be bat choirs, or it can also mean a finer-grained master so that you can add run an extra filter or two, or clean out ambient noise a bit better.
iLife - mmeh, don't really use any of the apps to begin with
Office - crossover office works well
Photoshop - See Above
Games - See above, if there's not already a port
Telephone support - major Linux vendors offer this
Hot Chicks - I'm a Linux geek and I've had no problems getting the mattress bumping with cute people. I'm queer though, so mmeh...
I'm getting a mac to play around with, to learn a few things about the system, and maybe write a cross-platform proof of concept virus. It's just the times I've played with the system, I've found that for the apps I used, the Linux versions may not have been more polished, but were definitely more functional. That and WindowMaker kicks the Apple's ass halfway down the street; it's just more elegant, straightforward, and customizable.
Transparency is useful. Linux will have true pervasive transparency pretty soon; it's already in Xorg 6.8, and I imagine good controls for it will be available in the next updates of kde and gnome. The problem is is that I'm colorblind. I care a lot more about contrast than prettiness. I'd much rather have a blinking app close to my workspace issue than a real tranparency.

It doesn't work on netscape 3 either. Both of which are obsolete and unsupported. Upgrade already

No, ads like this are like subway putting up signs in areas known to get traffic for people looking for mcdonalds stating "Try Subway Instead".
I know it's not the OS X spell checker, but here's spell checking goodness for mozilla. 5 minutes with google, and you can find damn near anything for mozilla.

I'm sure that they'll make usb to whatever converters, so you can go whatever - usb - ps/2 without much of a problem.
