IMDB ratings have a serious problem as far as new movies are concerned, as the latest movie of any reasonable quality tends to get many people rating it a "10" (which should mean it's perfect). It takes a while before a movie settles down to what its real rating should be.

IMDB has algorithms to lessen or even disregard votes of 10's and 1's. IMDB also looks at the voter's history to apply the appropriate weight.

You also left out that many newer films also get many people rating it a "1", just because they don't like the franchise or an actor.

Exactly - the investigators on the CSI tv series have been able to do this for years so I don't know why this is news.. All they have to do to read a person's drivers license from a 640x480 security camera image taken from 200 meters away in poor light is to ask the image processing dude to "enhance image".

I fully understand as I was a night owl for most of my life. I was able to transition to functioning in the morning by forcing myself to get up early every morning - including weekends. It's really tough for the first few days or weeks, but my body eventually adjusted by feeling tired earlier in the evening.

The biggest thing for me was to really tone down any physical or mental activity a few hours before I wanted to sleep. I used to workout in the afternoons, but I switched that to morning before work. I'm not a gamer, but games before bed would need to go too.

It's also really important not fight through a feeling of sleepiness if it comes earlier in the evening.
