It used to be people tried to win the lottery. Then they tried to buy the next big stock before it boomed. Now people try to patent everything in hopes that they can hit the jackpot.
A 17" lcd is 17" viewable and a 17" crt can be from 15.5 to 16" viewable. What this means to you is that a $200 lcd is almost comparable in size to most 17" crt.
A 18" lcd is comparable to a 19-20" crt, depending on model.
So what this means is this guy is comparing different size monitors...so the price difference is actually somewhat less.
Well I talk to our other people at our remote offices over ip all the time. And frankly its quite spooky how clear it is, much clearer than the old pots method. Of course this is over private lines (p-t-p and frame) and uses QoS, requires about 24Kb per call on our S8300 system (a linux based avaya phone system). I also run databases over the same lines that lets the voice through first and I don't have any problems there. Now you take this a bit further and go over the internet and this is where things get interesting, ip problems come from where QoS is not implemented . . . of couse within their own networks running QoS I would say they get about what I do, which is crystal clear voice reproduction.
Yes perhaps a little harsh, but you came right back to my point. The problem is a great many parents expect the technology to do it all for them, mostly due to the marketing associated with the technology based tools. I do agree that technology can help to some extent, but to a much lesser extent than what is expected of it by many due to the hype. I meant to bring the point across that parents now days expect either someone else or something else to do their fundamental task, which is in essence raising their children.
I have to disagree. The improved technology does nothing for improving a childs ability to learn. Books are a perfect tool for teching children how to read. The problem is most people are too darn lazy now days to help their children by doing such a fundamental parental task (yes being a parent is hard work and no technology is going to replace what a child can learn by teaching and by example). With this teaching comes respect from the child, something that is also seldom earned by "parents" these days and you can see it in the disrepectfulness of children these days. Unfortunately your example of "let the system teach them" and "shove them into school early so I don't have to work with them" is the norm now days.
You now have slashdot, eggs and bacon should be no problem.
From the article:
Inspired by a thinkgeek april fool's day joke, the iGrill is a 600Mhz Mini-ITX motherboard, an 80GB hard drive, and a 250W PSU, running Gentoo Linux, all enclosed in a George Foreman grill. Technically it's lost the grilling-functionality, but with a bit of tin foil on top of the heatsink and a fork-bomb, I reckon I could probably still fry an egg with it.
Ah, yes the news, I wish I had time or the inclination to watch such an exciting display of pure entertainment and general bull crap. Most US citizens, including me (not saying American proudly like I really like to so as not to be vague to foreigners) are too busy living the good life, frolicking in the deep sea of every increasing prices while our work goes off to other countries and being forced to ride along on ridiculously steep credit card debt. I will be lucky to catch the weather from time to time.
I understand he has a problem which does not facilitate him playing well with others. However, it sounds like his more like an arrogant programmer that had to quit his job and work day and night to produce anything worthwhile. I mean we all get ideas for our pet projects when we can't work on them and have to deal with the reality of life. The real talent comes when you can hold down a job as a factory worker, programmer, pizza boy, whatever and then find time to produce something that might be of use to others in your little free or borrowed time. His comparing himself to Mozart is little more than arrogance and I find it to be not the case from what I can glean from the article.
Actually my friends and I all sat there and laughed our asses off and that silly light sabre scene. It was badly done and so unrealistic. I know Yoda is not a real species, but come on it could have been better. When Yoda was spinning in the air, it looked like the way a small child would play fight will his toys.
That does not matter, if you do not have the receipt and they carry the item, they will refund it to a gift card, which is why the mention of gift cards in the first place.
Divide the mm measures by 25.4 to get inches. I am from the southern united states and I have no problems with metric conversions, after all we were taught them in school (I graduated from high school in 1985, so perhaps its a sign of the decline in the US education system as of late). Perhaps grams are just a drug measure in your neck of the woods, but in the south grams in the south is a general unit of measure. A gram is about 0.0022 pounds or about 0.0353 ounces, also I learned back in school, of course I graduated from high school in 1985, so perhaps its a sign of the decline in the US educational system.
Its just a bunch of parachute sections under the arms, one under each armpit, and one between the legs. Its not like hes flying, sure he might catch a few air currents, but for the most part hes just trying to land with three tiny parachutes...its rather standard, jump out of plane and fall to the ground using the drag of the parachute to slow you down.
I would think this would normally be under US Customs. I suspect that the US, now the CIA, NSA, FBI, US Customs borders are quite fuzzy due to the 9-11 changes in the rules, allowing all agencies to pretty much do as they please.
Obviously this needs to be done in order to keep ceo's and the like from playing the system and quoting higher than true earnings. The common employees stocks are minimal and so they are not bothering to count those, I suspect in an effort to get more of the stock dispursed to the common man to avoid stock dumping by the ceo/cfo/cXo.
From TFA, which I actually read:
First, the bill decrees that a coveted form of corporate pay -- stock options -- be counted as an expense when these go to the chief executive and the other four highest-paid officers in a company, but be disregarded as an expense when they are issued to other employees in the company.
As most probably know, the coward is incorrect, linux (http://yellowdoglinux.com/) does run on the power pc and linux supports various levels of raid.

The article says 555 passengers, so where did the other 245 passengers come from on this article?

And yes, this webserver is hosted on the grill.
Well it better be if hes cooking pork on it. I like my steak medium rare.
Ahh, so the earthquakes are just the earth way of resetting time.
Then again, I wish I had that much free time on my hands. OK which one of the guys is gonna re-adjust all those atomic clocks :P.

You mean they still make processors?
I think they charged him with training a miniature terrorist.
If it runs on windows, then obviously at least a 3 key keyboard is needed (ctrl-alt-del).

Its cable modem systems, not DSL, just a few radio waves over a coax, and no, its not going to microwave them

I think you mean Von Neumann, not Von Neuman
