This is probably true, but it will most likely outlast most hard disks.
But it is also true that many hard disks die after a couple of years average now, sometimes less...especially those that come in the pre-built retail computer systems. In some cases if you try to use the hard disk manufacturers warranty directly, they will tell you no and suggest you call system manufacturer that sold it to you (makes me wonder if the drives are refurbs or seconds, or perhaps they were spec'd out to be cheaper models), but i digress.
This is more like 6 months to a year in a laptop that is used on the road as they are most likely gonna get banged around or bumped from time to time, and used at varying angles and so forth.
but my wife is usually on the other end. It goes something like this, Wife: Are you driving? Me: Yes Wife: While you are talking to me? Me: Yes Dear Wife: You know its not good to talk and drive, pull over or call me back when you get there Me: Yes Dear Wife: Click Me: Hey Dude, what's up? Friend: Not much, I thought you had to call your wife. Me: I did, but she said to call her back later...
Yes they also sell SLES as a stand alone product but I got to set the record straight, they also sell netware under a new name.
I keep hearing this, but no, Novell did not chunk netware, I run it every day...current and fully supported and I am about to renew my support for it as it is due next month. Netware used to run on its own micro kernel that used dos to bootstrap it originally, but now the netware services can also run on Linux so they went that route recently unless you want to run it the traditional way. If you buy OES2 basically you get SLES with an add on disk OES2 (and the 6.5 netware also when you can run if you want and its 100% compatible with OES2 and they can be in the same eDirectory aka NDS tree) which gives you all the netware services.
Besides China at odds with Google's mission as stated on the http://www.google.com/intl/en/corporate/ page:
The name reflects the immense volume of information that exists, and the scope of Google's mission: to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.
Since when do they treat a known drug cartel guys front business as legitimate income? I mean I know he started out somewhat legit, but his big break was the cocaine trade, which he used to make his visible fortune.
Really Really Really? Well FYI, linux has access control list (acl) capabilities also, but they are not as important as they are in windows due to the better overall security.
Well, no not really. It has the updates it recommends selected. If you do that then go back in, it will then have the rest selected. It does have a "select all" button, but it does warn you that it might not be a good idea to use it.
I don't mind the mp3 thing, after all the music artists get to go a tour and charge ridiculous amounts for tickets, and then they get to sell rights to others to sell paraphernalia related to the artist or band. I kinda like supporting the book author by buying the book in whatever form, after all they are not gonna get much sideline pay.
I for one don't really see the for a dedicated e-reader, I know save a tree, but the fact is, sometimes I like to sit down and go low tech with a good book. Besides, I enjoy the smell of books in my library and I like to flip through the pages of a new book. I might invest in an e-reader for use on the plane, or when I go on a trip if it is attainable at say $80 on some promotion and the books are cheap, but for general use on a daily basis, I just don't see a pressing need.
Yes, and sles is pretty good on the enterprise side of things...though I really don't think you get much extra for your dime besides support. I would like to mention that sles + oes2 (netware on linux) is pretty darn good from a file server standpoint...much better than a windows based solution for serving files to windows clients.
They really do need to work on their xen tools that come with sles though...you would think they would give some goodies from their platespin product for management instead of relying on redhats free tools for xen management...but then that is a money maker selling platespin I guess, but for me just the free tools are enough since I only run a 4 servers with about 3 VMs each (not including dom0).
The trick on sles is to do the critical updates first, then the recommended ones if you want after. I can assure you that if you "select all" and update, you will indeed break something in sles, but it is not that the product is crap, it is the nut behind the wheel. It might be good that you went to redhat in your shop though, as it might not be a pretty picture if the hedge fund ends up with sles.
I find their support pretty good, and their people bend over backward to help you even if your service contract is not in order. What kind of problems did you have with the support?
I keep hearing that rumor that Level3 DNS servers might be locked down and no longer for public access, but you still should be able to ping them for testing purposes. Right now I think 4.2.2.1 through 4.2.2.6 are all still usable...so it might not be any truth to it (I would like a link to an official statement from level3).
You can start using 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for public dns (and ping too if you wish), they are Google's and they are not going to lock those down anytime soon.
Field corn is natuaral corn. Sweet corn on the other hand has a naturally-occurring recessive mutation in the corn genes.
So yes they are both naturally occurring, but sweet corn is a mutant.
Not if its single malt scotch. He should avoid the single grain, blended or vat whiskey/scotch though as they will likely contain corn. Of course its probably GM grain in there in single malt anyway.
Why not just go back to Mid April 2003, and get more shares for your buck at $6.56 a share, and be out your money 3 less years, after all it did not split until 2005?
So, will the iphone even really matter anymore in 2014 (the next December with a Friday 19th). Why don't they just do that Friday 18th of 2009, or maybe Saturday 19th 2009 instead? Seems it would be a lot more timely and useful.
1. Don't brag about what you did to your friends, or at least not to the ones stupid enough to use your real name. Let this be a lesson to you and all your script kiddie buddies, keep your trap shut.
2. Nobody pays attention to anything on textfiles.com, its mostly considered folklore, and most will figure they were bright enough to change their names to protect themselves.
3. Did the post it with your name, address, birthdate, and ssn number? If not just see #2, ie deny it dumbass.
Sorry guys, I thought I locked Grampa AC in his room without his laptop.
Yes, Grampa, I know they didn't in your day, but the modern processors
clock down to save power when they are idle.
840 va (more or less 840 watts) for a quad core, wait a minute...
The "quad core" ppc G5 was actually two dual core G5 processors (970 series). The max thermal power draw of those was 120 watts (TDP) in the most power hungry version of the 970MP (G5 core)...so at the most you drew 120x2 or 240watts for all 4 cores...though it will certainly be much less than the 240watts thermal max for actual power draw or the chip would have went up in smoke.
DISCLAIMER:
An AC circuit has a characteristic called the power factor that determines the relationship between true and apparent power, i.e. the conversion between volt-amperes and wattage. It can vary anywhere from 0.0 to 1.0, but proper designs should be close to 1.0, so often there is little difference between watts and VA.

Hopefully, that means that china will no longer be able to search for email addresses efficiently to spam.

That and the next presidential election in the USA.

Well they might not have been all that tasty, but you got a lot of meat from one kill. So laziness of man might have driven their extinction instead.
