  1. Re:Lol on Libertarian Presidential Candidate Michael Badnarik Answers · · Score: 4, Insightful

They need to skip the national elections and work from local elections up. A top down approach doesn't work (a la trickle down). They need some more state representatives, govenorships and congresscritters first. President is a stretch.

Running a presidential candidate gives visibility to the party, helping all those local and state candidates win their races. More libertarians hold public office than all other 3rd parties combined. No one honestly expects Badnarik to win the presidential election, but the fact that the LP is running candidates on all levels helps the lower levels succeed.

If there is anything worth seeing on the website, then users will find a way to see it, even if that means downloading a new program. This is the paradigm that has worked for Real, Macromedia, and the thousands of companies that use their products.

Web developers complain about having to code around IE's bugs, yet by continuing to do so they perpetuate the problem.

Can you imagine if Mozilla introduced a new "feature" that was of benefit to the porn industry, and all of a sudden porn sites couldn't be viewed by IE? There would be a new "de facto standard browser" overnight.

Tell the client that if there is any worthwhile content on his site, his audience will find it. If the audience isn't willing to upgrade a broken, worthless browser to see his content, then the content itslef is worthless.

That is by design, and it is a feature of standard-compliant design. You can code a web page once, and it will render for normal people, blind people, people with 640x480 displays, and everybody else.

The SBLive and other consumer cards don't have good A/D converters. You can spend thousands on a good one. However, the Delta line of interfaces from m-audio have a good reputation for low-end DAWs.

If you've already got a capable computer system, look at a Delta 44 and Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 (or Sonar 3, if you have the money). It would be much cheaper than a comparable analog system. Be careful, though - home studios are a big money pit. :)

The Live is significantly noisier than the TB Santa Cruz, if you want to compare consumer cards. The "best entry-level card around" (for home recording) is probably the Audiophile 2496.

The Live pretty much sucks for anything other than gaming.

If you order green beans and roast them yourself, you can take that experience to the next level, and even save a little money.

I roast once or twice a week, and will never go back to buying pre-roasted coffees. There is a quality of freshness to the cup that I have only tasted in coffee I ordered directly from this roaster, who ships it the day he roasts it.

I think the actual definition is someone who believes there is no god. Compare to theist, monotheist, polytheist, pantheist, etc. Someone who does not know if there is a god or not is an agnostic - he professes no knowledge about the existence of a god.

Still, none of these words convey a sense of how evangelistic the believer is concerning his views.
