I typically take the word of the tree-hugger with a grain of salt as it is. Generally environmentalists are very impulse minded. They see something and immediately assume it is a trend.
Is global warming actually occuring? Perhaps. But it is probably more due to a cycle that the planet is experiencing than mankind driving his car to work everyday. We were in an ice age at one time, after all.
I have often thought about that. Perhaps not in a genetic modification, but implanting chips that integrate with the human brain. Linear processors to help with math, RAM to help with memory, etc.
A large breed dog mauls a person and kills them. The dog is considered unsafe and is put down in the event that it might happen again in the future.
Is the dog aware of his own actions? No, not in the sense that we as humans are.
Now consider this: An individual who believes that Jodie Foster is in love with them and that she is telling them to do things, etc. The person kills another person.
Is he aware of his own actions? You are saying that he is not aware of his own actions in the sense that normal people are.
So does that mean that the insane person should be put to death much in the same way that the dog is? What if this person later on decides that Britney Spears is in love with him and repeats his actions again?
Hopefully this won't get too off topic, I'm just trying to draw some parallels.
Trademark law distinguishes a number of categories of use. A dry cleaner could call itself Apple Cleaners without conflict, but a computer called the Appel McIntosh would be a violation. Software is a category. Browsers, databases, compilers, etc. are all part of the software category.
This reminds me of the disputes over domain names. Like whether Nissan motors vs Nissan computers has any more right to nissan.com than the other.
I believe in the first come first serve. Mozilla needs to find a new name.
The problem with the US is that we are, ironically, technophobic and very profit oriented.
We are slow to adopt new technologies. We see this in the cell phone industry, where other countries have a 2 year lead on cell phone technology compared with the US.
(This must be marvelous for the cell phone manufactures since they continue to reap profits on technology that is, according to the rest of the world, obsolete.)
The other problem is nobody wants to do anything unless they are going to be assured a profit. For example, SBC is reluctant now to roll out any more "last mile" additions to their DSL infrastructure since is will merely provide an avenue for other DSL providers to make more money off of their work. So they'd rather play they "if we can't have it, nobody can game" and make the general populace suffer.
Those two reasons in my opinion are why we don't, and will not for some time, see cheap reliable broadband being delivered in a timely manner.
What is the definition of a geek anymore? I consider myself to be somewhat of a geek. I love technology, I'm always jackin with software, hardware, phones, PDAs, etc.
Are geeks pasty faced teenagers, that rarely bath and wouldn't know laundry detergent if it hit them in the face?
I think everyone is a geek in their own sense. I think geekyness is good.
Im curious how much liveable space is in the International Space Station. All of the footage I have seen of it leads me to believe that it is very cramped as well.
4500 sq ft for 6 people on a Mars mission seems like a lot of space. That is twice as big as my house for 4 people. It doesn't sound like they would suffer from claustrophobia.
That's because Apple is secretly hoping that PC users will get so sick and tired of playing Quicktime movies on the "wrong" platform and switch to Apple.
What an odd name for a product line. Any demographics done on Raging Cow? Reminds me of Mad Cow. How about Ebola Monkey? Rabid Racoon... all edible of course.
So you pay $50-$60 bucks for a game, and then you're inundated with advertisements on top of that? Isn't the money that you're spending on the game revenue enough?

Human: I plead insanity! I wasn't aware of my actions at the time that I was doing them. I can't be held responsible.
Computer: I plead trojan. I wasn't aware of my actions at the time that I was doing them. I can't be held responsible.

EMBRACE GEEKYNESS! =)

It's all just a big conspiracy.
Try "Red Planet". As I recall there is a somewhat revealing shower scene. Probably a body double.
How easy would this make it for telemarketers to get ahold of your cell phone number?

Those freakin ghosts ... scared the bejeebees outa me.
