    When you have children you tend to curse less and use more acceptable curse words. I use the word poop all the time. I can use it at work. I also like the Sponge Bob curse words. Barnacles.

    I would not block any IP addresses belonging to Chinese ISPs. I would just charge 50 Cents per packet for them to come into my firewall. I think that is a reasonable charge. A compromise. Now I just need someone to send the bill to.

    I have never had someone give me an intelligent reason on why outgoing port 25 should not be blocked. I've heard the argument about people running email on their broadband connections. (I do, and route outgoing through my ISP's SMTP relay server)

    I run an SMTP server and resent your saying it should be filtered by my ISP. I don't send spam and don't want someone intervening in my email. Get the distributors of bad email not the innocents.

    I had a GPS based time clock. It would only work with an outside roof based antenna. The WWV based receivers generally do better inside a building.

    AAAAGGGHHH. The Four-Phase Systems building was torn down??? I've been in that building! I was there! It's gone?? I took classes there. Sheesh, what is the world coming too. I hope the Golden Gate bridge is still standing up in San Francisco. Four-Phase was killed by its merger with Motorola and the invention of the PC. Not the Apple one but the IBM one. Great systems at the time. Best minicomputer money could buy. First LSI based minicomputer - I believe.

    Something like _Stand on Zanzibar_ by John Brunner is science fiction
    of that type. Fairly realistic, no real outrageous SF inventions.

    That's when they are not laying off. I have seen a lot of fake jobs on their web sites. They just want names for contract proposals. Not for jobs.

    Not what someone else tells you to do. What are you interested in? Computer Science can be an end in itself but usually not. Are you interested in using your knowledge to help others? Then go in to teaching. For High School you might have to get a teaching certificate. Are you interested in the sciences or Mathematics? I.e., applied Computer Science. Then maybe go to work for the government. In the corporate world, they are always looking for management oriented people. After 10 or 15 years of working you will have to put away your technical skills and start helping the younger people to do the job. Just jump into anything. If you don't have any responsibilities (I.e., children) and you don't like it then do something else.

    No they won't. They won't say a thing. They will blithly accept it or worse not even know about it.
    The ISPs might argue against it because of the cost but thats all. They will probably start out
    recording SMTP packets as those are the easiest to understand.
