Mother Nature (as an iconic representation of the big bad universe) IS a bitch.
You sir(or madam), need a little hubris. Flood, Famine Earthquake, all can destroy us in less than a geological eye blink. The energies released in the average hurricane are immense, the energies involved in a large meteor impact are beyond comprehension. Yes, one can talk of so many megatons tnt equivalent, that does not mean one can understand what that really means. Nature aside, we have existed for a tiny fragment of the history of life and have proven ourselves to be the greatest threat to our continued existance.
Given the complete lack of political interest in practical space exploration, its going to be a couple of hundred years before we get even a tiny fraction of the species off this rock. Even then, that may simply be the catalyst to destroy the earth, since once we are in space, the earth based population becomes more expendable.
It comes down to the fact that notice must be given for things like photographing and recording, whether one is on public or private property.
That's the way it is in most states.
Notice need be only a small but technically visible sign saying "you are being vidoetaped"

Back when I was running a 900 baud modem and 2400 was really "hot", gifs were generally a waste of bandwith in terms of time if not content. Useless content regardless of its form is still wasted bandwidth. Good usesful text is still, and will always remain, superior to useless streaming video. Good streaming video will always be superior to unintelligible text.
What people object to is high bandwidth crap. Useless text at least loads quickly. Waiting forever for a page to load only to find it's useless is a pain.
Speaking as a lit geek, the whole piece is poorly written. The first stanza rhyme scheme is AABB, the second stanza CCDEC and the final stanza CFG. There is no structure within the stanzas and no internal rhyme or use of alliteration. The piece peters out into mediocrity. The initial AABB CC rhyme scheme is now considered amateurish (similar to using GOTO). Perhaps it's highschool audience justifies this structure. One must then ask why was it not continued through to the end? Perhaps the sign of a disturbed, unorganized mind.
Having heard Hitler speak in various newsreels, any comparison of this piece to his speeches is an insult. At least as far as you can insult the facist bastard.;)
One: If you have faith don't post AC
Two: Lay off the guy, Geeks can be Christians, he's pointing out a resource nothing more.
Three: Sorry AC looked at your site main article is creationism. You lost me right there.
Out west here in Canada, I think Alberta or BC, a woman kept receiving junk and bills from Reader's Digest after she had cancelled her subscription. She responded with a registered letter asking them to desist and stating if they sent anymore mail, they accepted she would bill them $50 for each piece.
Of course they didn't stop. She billed them, wound up in court when they didn't pay and was awarded what was due plus I believe, costs.
A week later her husband started getting junk from Reader's.....
Were exactly did I say worthless? FYI the site is bookmarked so I can check it out later.
I still maintain there is no reason why I should be reading any user guide at all for web based media. The interface should be easily and obviously usable. Unless of course, the creators are a bunch of elitist artists......;)
Bill Gates has given $20,000,000,000 (yes, you read right, twenty billion dollars) of his personal fortune to his charitable foundation, which
is currently mostly committed to providing vaccinations to those living in 3rd world poverty. To even suggest that he's a racist is absurd.
Big Whopping tax break
A lot of favourable Press Coverage
Big Whopping tax break
Favourable opinion of MS in 3rd world countries allowing more opportunities for market penetration.
Big Whopping tax break
None of this of course means Mr. Gates is in anyway racist.
Philanthropy is not always indulged in for noble reasons.
Dude, you just have look a little harder. My wife and I used to game together. Roleplaying can come off the paper and carry on shall we say "else-where"....
I very briefly worked for the company that did support for Netzero. On windows anyway, the popup code was hacked within a day.
The fun thing about doing support was the $14.95 per incident charge. The typical call went: "Oh you can't connect? that's 14.95. Now we have you connected you can't get mail? 14.95 please. And you need help with news groups? another 14.95........ ad infinitum
YANKEE TWIT!;)
I worked for netZero supporting thick head Muricans....
Newfies are great though, "Well by she hasn't worked in a coupla weeks so I thought I best giv ya a call" Way laid back people.
The Bible forms the basic underpinning of western european thought. In it are contained the seeds of our culture, our way of perceiving the world, and the basis of our ethics and morals. No one book has had more effect on where we are today than this one.
Technologicaly the Gutenberg Bible represents the first step in mass public disemmination of information that that ultimately lead to the internet. Think of it as a religious floppy disk.
Previously, Bibles were labouriously hand copied and could not be distributed widely, much like HD's. The Gutenberg and more importantly its printed descendants, could be sneaker netted across the known world relatively easily.
Philosophically, the Gutenberg Bible is important because it is free as in speech. It began the process of opening the Word of God to examination by others than the clergy. Did this cause the reformation? Maybe not, but it certainly contributed. From the Reformation, come the Protestants, from the Protestants, Capitalism and modern democracy whether or not these are good things I leave up to you to decide.
To have this on the net for everyone to see is simply amazing.
Just to state my biases, I am Pagan not Christian, but I still maintain the Bible is the most important work in the Western canon.
I deal with home-users running win2k. Why, because its there. They have no need for any NT services what so ever. They have bought the sizzle and have no idea how to use the steak.
They often start by saying the os has told them to contact their sysadmin. I take some pleasure in telling them THEY are the sysadmin!
The movement feature is pretty useful for flight sims and driving games, but for fps it bites. For shooters, I use it as a game pad but it can't beat mouse/keyboard.
Unfortunately, laptops are also seen as status symbols. At a previous employer the General Manager used a then top of the line PII 300 for email, ms office and surfing. The physical plant (heat, light, a/c, etc) was run off an ancient 286 using a fourth hand hard drive that regularily crashed.

But then, I am a pessimist.
Cheap troll

Pagan Baby and proud of it since 1963!
This I like.
Translation or original Old English is up to you.

Because its not a Robertson screw. Phillips drivers easily pop out of the screw head and easily strip the screw head. Robertson's don't.
USE ROBERTSON A REAL MAN'S SCREW!

Second, the intro page asks me to:
Why in all the gods' names should I bother learning your interface? I already know text, html, etc., etc. Finally, the intro screen scrolls pathetically slowly on a PIII with 130 meg ram. Give a nicely formatted text box I can read quickly.

Given Microsoft's history it will be ENABLED by default. Other than that, it sounds reasonable.
"Now, you have regular people using it and there's a much greater need to protect privacy," he said.
I think that about sums up the problem. "Regular" people can see who is who and owns what. Can't have the peasants getting too informed can we?

Eugenics in the 20's and 30's lead to death camps first for "defectives" later for racial and political undesirables.
No, the colonials get it too. ;)
Go figure.
