This idea wouldn't work out to well with current P2P implementations (like BitTorrent). P2P is attractive because when people download a file they are uploading at the same time, creating more available bandwidth for everyone else.

If every time you upload a "chunk" and then delete that "chunk" you are limiting the availability. The whole system becomes a one to one file transfer system, might as well use FTP with an auto-delete command once the download is complete.

Once logged in you can download the "Astaro Security Gateway" as a bootable ISO, this will install the gateway on your PC of choice (make sure you have two network cards, one for WAN and one for LAN). Please keep in mind this will completely format the PC.

IDE or SATA: As some people have mentioned, most motherboards include both and if your stuck with a motherboard that is SATA only you can purchase a IDE to SATA converter for $15. Or find yourself a 250GB SATA2 drive for $80.

DVI-I is compatible with VGA and simply needs a $5 adapter if one was not included with your card.
DVI-D is DVI only, knowing the difference will save you money on a new monitor, however you can output any DVI signal to an HDMI capable screen (again, with a $5 DVI to HDMI adapter).

RAM is cheap these days, $60 for 2GB (2x1GB sticks).

PSU, motherboard, video card, case, etc.... if you shop then you can easily have an excellent machine well under the cost of a new playstation.

The difference between the two communities begins when one side doesn't want to "build" a PC and simply wants to play games. Consoles are for people who want instant gratification and zero hassle when dealing with hardware.

  8. Executive Summary on Asteroid Mission Competition Announces Winner · · Score: 2, Informative

Executive summary from the the linked PDF:

The Foresight spacecraft is a concept design for a radio tagging mission to Near Earth
Asteroid (NEO) Apophis. The spacecraft is designed to be a low-cost, low-risk, minimal
science mission in order to achieve the goal of obtaining accurate tracking information for
Apophis. The baseline spacecraft mission includes a launch from Wallops Island, Virginia on
an Orbital Sciences Corporation Minotaur IV launch vehicle. Five launch windows have
been identified spanning the years 2012 to 2014. The mission requires a chemical propulsive
transfer vehicle to perform the outbound burn to Apophis (3,600 m/s) with the Foresight
encounter spacecraft performing a portion of the Earth departure, and the Apophis capture
burn (total less than 2,400 m/s). The mass of the Foresight spacecraft is 220 kg (propulsive
transfer vehicle of 1,387 kg). The Foresight spacecraft is powered by solar arrays augmented
by rechargeable batteries; the transfer vehicle is powered by onboard batteries. The
Spacecraft has two main instruments, a multi-spectral imager and laser altimeter, which
over a span of 300 days reduces the ±3 error ellipse of Apophis' trajectory ("keyhole" or bplace
encounter) in 2029 to 6.0 kilometers by 2017. The spacecraft leverages off the shelf
technologies where possible, incorporating leaner approaches to spacecraft design. The total
cost for this mission is estimated to be $137.2 M ($94.2 M for spacecraft and instrument
development and acquisition, $21 M for operations, and $22 M for the launch vehicle).
Overall system reliability is estimated to be 90.2%. The Foresight spacecraft is a low cost
asteroid spacecraft mission that can be implemented with low risk in order to obtain detailed
information on the future orbital trajectory of Apophis.

a great extension of our current business. Let me assure you that one of the main reasons for this acquisition is the development capabilities of the Slim Devices team. The technical level of this group is a key asset that we fully intend to leverage. The Slim Devices entity will function independently, keeping the spirit of advance audio technology and strong product innovation.

Logitech will bring its global distribution and marketing capabilities, providing a jump start to a large visibility and adoption of Slim Devices products.
