Actually, its the "carrot on a stick" approach to drive employee's. Your employer dangles the carrot from a stick in front of you making you constantly work for something you will never get.
Since the clock is binary, getting "gummed up" wont actually slow the clock down. Even if the parts show signs of wear the binary functions will still work. They even built an auto reset function that uses sunlight to heat a piece of metal when the sun reaches noon for example.
The article also mentions finding material that will last for 10K years, maybe titanium? they havent decided yet. The functioning prototypes use stainless steel.

For many teams, working together productively depends on the ability to easily schedule meetings and share calendars, contacts, and other information. ICS includes powerful collaboration tools that allow Microsoft Outlook users to share their own up-to-date contact lists, calendars, task lists and Outlook notes securely within your organization. You can - with permission - view and edit your colleagues' calendars and contact lists.

Everytime someone orders a coffee, your print a ticket (30min of free wifi time), beyond that 30min you charge, maybe the price of a coffee for every 30min or something.
Lots of little features built in, simple interface for rapid turnover (press a button and it generates and prints the login id/password for you). Its the best solution I know of for Cafe's.

Considering the bright light conditions, it would have been impossible to capture stars on film.
And yes, I saw that show....all of these we're apparent, but I'm no expert.
I work for a very large reseller....CRT's are very much still available.
Are LCD's taking over? well, its may seem like it, 17" LCD's are now priced the same as 17" CRT's about a year ago (roughely $179), you can get a low end 19" for ~$200 if you look hard enough.
High quality CRT's are the norm because they are so cheap, no reason to buy a low end CRT when the LCD equivlent cost slightly more but saves you money in the long run.
ok , so we banned trans-fats, something that is costing the country millions in health care every year. I think it was a good move, I expect similar bans coming into place for cigarettes, people are too stupid to know what good for them.
Imagine that, a country that wants its citizens to be healthy.
Just as a side note, Canada has more guns "per capita" then the USA. We do have tougher gun laws and have had a strict background check process in place befor any schmoe can buy a gun, even then bullets are restricted.

I thought downloading was legal, however uploading was illegal.
Goes along with the concept that it was legal for you to lend your CD to a friend, they can copy it and give it back.....however, if you made a copy and then gave that to your friend that would be illegal.
That makes sense. But how come everyone gets excited when methane is detected on a planet like mars for example? Or is it that methane occurs naturally AND is a byproduct of plants/animals?
Knowing a little is probably worse than knowing nothign at all, lol.
Oil? are we talking mineral oil, or the kind that comes from decomposing plant and animal life? I'm no oil expert, but wouldnt that be a sign of alien life?

Or perhaps another substance that reacts with the disk surface?
