Look don't feel sorry for the customers affected, feel jealous. I sure do!! MediaOnes customers in Metro Detroit are getting the absolute best service at the best prices MediaOne has to offer. They all have cable modems, digital cable and pay no more than $29 a month, and some pay as little as $22. I live less than one mile from this Cable Heaven yet it might as well be a light year. I am surrounded by MediaOne here in Farmington Hills serviced by Time Warner on an expired contract paying $37 a month for analog cable we won't ever have cable modems. We are in cable hell. Let me say this one more time:
THE CABLE INDUSTRY IS WORSE THAN MICROSOFT!!!
But not because of companies like MediaOne, because of companies like Time Warner.

  3. The Dual-Boot will always exist... on Reports of Corel's Linux Distribution · · Score: 1

Ok, we've had this debate before. Which is more important native apps or WINE. This is simply a chicken-egg problem. I agree it'll be a long time before every new game or cool application is released on Windows and Linux at the same time so WINE is important especially for the games because all office suites are the same for the most part but no two games are alike.
However, if I'm a Windows user why would I switch to Linux if the only applications are just Windows applications emulating on Linux? Yes I know that Corel is developing wine gtk to make them native Linux apps, but still you do need to have applications that are native to Linux to get the Windows user to switch even to a dual boot.
So yeah, that's it. Wow it just hit me! You need the native applications to get them to even install Linux on a secondary partition, but WINE to get them to remove Windows altogether. So I guess you're kind of right.

Why should I be charged this rate when I have no other option but dial-up ISP. It will make dial-up ISP more money than cable modems. This penalizes people whose cable companies are treating them like crap and won't give them cable modems. This is an outrage!!! Now I'm going to flame my cable company until they install cable modems. Of course we are the lowest priority for them of their districts and don't even have a contract. However I agree interviewing RMS would've just turned way too many people off(I hope you're not offended RMS if you read this). It's just Linus is just a way better person to market.
Although they didn't give a complete overview of the Linux world with all the distributions and the GNU software, they really hammered away at what has been the main complaint of big corporations, lack of support. I can't honestly think that someone could walk away from the TV and think that there wasn't ANY support for Linux. It's probably about the same as working for any local cable company in a monopoly district like mine Time Warner Cable of Oakland County Michigan. It also must be bad working for Northwest Airlines in Detroit Metro Airport where Northwest controls over 80% of the flights. Not surprisingly they get a lot of antagonism from their costumers on a daily basis as we pay by far the highest rates in the country. You know this LITTLE and I do mean little American Airlines strike. Here the Northwest Strike was 10 times bigger than the AMR strike in NY. Were talking it was the top story for about 3 months as we had essentially no other opion. That's just one of problems you have to face when you are a monopoly. Whenever something goes wrong, people have the right to question it and think that it was just because they have a monopoly. The only people who can hold a major position without having it keep them up every night are usually the hard core corporate republican backers, like head of the consumer affairs for Northwest Airlines at Metro is a heavy Republican backer and she's woman.
