It was so much fun going from AT&T @HOME to AT&T, I can't wait to get flipped over to a new network!
I wonder if Comcast can bring the same exciting server name changes and mass outages that came with the last switch. I am all-aflutter with anticipation!
So can My wife get this test done if we travel to Ontario? Better yet, can we send in a blood sample? Has anyone doen this? My wifes doctor gave her a pamhplet on this damn test.. 3k... bit steep for us right now, but we could probably manage $800.
>and I frequently think of blowing people apart >in real-life with an AR-15 like in Counter->Strike, and it scares me.
If this is the case, you sir, need help.
Talk to someone about these feelings, consider going to a therapist. Not like you are a bad person, and it is good that you can recognize such thoughts. Don't let it fester in your mind..
and don't spoil it for the rest of us.. I love my sex & violence, and I am a peace loving hippy who can't even drop a lobster into a pot of water.
You can do a project with one or two of those criteria.
Cheap (cost of development) Fast (Time to finish project) Good (Quality product)
Of course you can't typically change plans mid-project. If you decide you want it good and cheap, then latter decide fast and good, you are in trouble.. adding people to a late project only makes it later.
If management doesn't understand this, find a management team that does.
I get the same stuff about book collections and smells from my wife. I don't buy it, books typically smell like old cheese to me.
And the reason you don't but the note about the cramps is that you have never read an ebook... I never fiddle with the stylus, I have a page down button. Not to mention that some readers will scroll automagically at your reading speed.
Just give it a shot, head over to alt.binaries.ebooks, pick something out, and you will be hooked. I guarantee*!
*Warning, guarantee not valid on days ending in "y"
I took it in the tub once, and about 10 minutes into the experience I decided to grab an old paperback instead. I figure, $100 pda vs. $2 paperback.. plus now I am reading more than one book.. which is like good for me or something.
I could never have imagined ebooks being any good. But My friend said it was great, so I read "The Big U" on my m100. It was amazing. Sounds crazy, but it is easy to pick up/put down real fast since it holds your place automagically. Your arms/hands don't crap trying to hold it open in various contorted ways. Reading in the dark is really easy on your eyes (and spouse) with the backlight. I recommend everyone give it a try.
It may not, but at the same time, the more communication the better. G3 or otherwise, if our network was better, and more people had phones, maybe the pentagon plane would have been averted. I dobut the secone wtc plane, since it was only 18 min after the first one.. anyway, my point is.
The better the network, the more people that will be on it, and therefore the more opportunities. Maybe Barbara was the only one. By the time the Jimmy Glick on the 4th plane voted with the other male passengers, there were several people getting the same story from their phones.
Again, it may not have helped much, but it certainly could have.
If the people on the plane that went down at the Pentagon had 3G phones, or some other better communication device, maybe they would have figured out that they were being used as a suicide bomb and overtaken the hijackers.
It seems to me that if everyone on the plane had 3G phones with video. The attacks of Sep. 11th could have been thwarted earlier.
You better believe that the attacks stopped because of the plane going down in a field. We didn't know at the time, but the terrorists sure did. They new that it went down because the word was out. The word may have gotten out faster if we had a better communications network.
I got a call from a headhunter last week for a job here in Austin. The description was writing Linux device drivers for a network appliance company. When I pressed the guy he said that it was Netpliance!
Well before they released the windows client I was having all kinds of trouble, servers timing out, the client crashing.. Then they go off prematurely releaseing the windows client, so their servers can be even more overloaded. If they are going to go around throwing blind generalizations about Linux/Unix + hackers, then screw it, they don't need my cycles.
Kinda of topic, but that crazed woman can't get enough of censorship, seems she knows what is best for us much better than we do.
She spent years fighting the music industry to keep bad words/themes out of music, and I suspect she is just itchin to tear apart that vile internet thing.
My group at school had Tivoli speak for about an hour on Wed. The guy mentioned that their product has ALREADY been ported, by someone who works there in his spare time.. they are just waiting for someone to wave some green in front of their face for it.
Debian is a great Dist, the developers are commited, and I love the ease of upgrade... at least until you want to do something that uses something non-free. I am having a hell of a time with enlightenment and friends due to the problems with Imlib vs Imlib-nonfree. If Debian could get around their (IMHO) crappy politics, I think they would wipe all other dists off the map.
Ahhhh.. ohh man.. pure comedy...
Did you see that part.. where he pointed out how some words were spelled wrong.
Woo.. somebody get this man a medal.
You must be one of the optimists I read so much about in the news these days.
I was AT&T @Home before, so theoretically, the switch at that point was going to be invisible as well.
Guess what. It wasn't. I know everyone in my apt. complex was out of the internet business for about 2 weeks.
Besides, its Murphys law or something.. things will go wrong, especially when you don't expect them to.
Hey, I hope you are right, but I still say the glass is half empty.
We need a Tech version of Rage Against the Machine.. with all that angst aimed at the various craptitude that is dumped on us on a daily basis.
I'd add some clever names of songs from RATM but with an added tech influence, but I should be working or something.

No, really I am.
This wasn't possible years ago in the 3x xservers, but maybe it happened in 4 and I just don't know.
Can you change the resolution of X while it is running AND the "virtual resolution"
You can do the Ctrl-Alt-"+" or "-" to change the res, but you just scroll around on the largest resolution in your XF86Config.
Example: I am running in 1024x768, want to let me mom use the computer and she likes 640x480 because it is easy to read. What to do?
Just ROT13 your "secret message" and stick it in the jpeg comment field!

Cheap - Fast - Good. Pick any 2.
Give that choice to management and explain it.

True True.

The FBI is made up of humans, like you and me, trying to make it in the world they have chosen.
The FBI isn't against left-learning and liberal thinking.
The FBI certainly contins some alternatively oriented employees.
The FBI is made up of international (born maybe), highly trained/skilled people.
Conspiracy is fine, but lets not get away from ourselves. There is no them.

Which part has you confused?
If the people on the plane that went down at the Pentagon had 3G phones, or some other better communication device, maybe they would have figured out that they were being used as a suicide bomb and overtaken the hijackers.
Maybe not, but hell, it is worth a chance.

I concur.. they are unfriendly and unilling to accept criticism of their system. It is really pretty cool, but also very flawed.

I think Hole in the wall is still there, looked kinda dank so I never ventured in, but it is still there.

Yes, but try to force apt to overide some dependency that is broken... then we are talking fun.. hours of it.
Tell me I am making some stupid mistake.
