Just like the Digg redesign pushed everyone over to Reddit... this may also push me somewhere too much whitespace and my poor old PPC Mac mini now decides to turn on the CPU fan while browsing slashdot so there must be some CPU hogging stuff going on in the background. this is leaning more toward "FAIL" than "WIN" sorry
Wouldn't it just be easier for Sony & Universal to lobby the government for speaker licensing? People, after taking a test of course, and showing proper government approved ID, will be issued speakers which will allow them to "hear" an "analog" version of the song in "audio" format. Then, people accused of copyright infringement can have their license revoked. anyone with unlicensed speakers will face jail time of 10-25 years.
As I sit here surfing the web on my Digital Equipment Corp. VAX 4000, I wonder... why is there no comparisons to AltaVista... the king of search engines.
OK, everyone...we've been notified... everybody change their name & move so that the bad guys cannot use this information and we can sit back and laugh at them.
I have a strict policy for people who do this to my wife and I. They get told *last* if they get told at all from that point on until we receive an apology. This applies to parents, siblings, and everyone else. I have no time for anyone who thinks they "deserve" priority in how I disclose facts about my life.
Dear friend "sjbe (173966)". I am upset that you didn't notify me first about this policy... I had to hear about it via Slashdot and I'm sitting here crying and wondering what I did to sjbe (173966) to deserve this awful treatment.
Well done sir. I was going to mod you down, but then I looked at your username. Then I replied to say "well done sir" and realized, "oh crap" I can't mod anyone now in this story. so I think I'll sit back and have some ethanol and orange juice.
What a strange thing to say: "observed by a team of researchers, including Canadians" Does this mean the Canadians aren't team players or they weren't researchers (were they just tourists?) This Canadian wants to know!
Passwords are so 1990. I realize that it requires a little extra work, but those RSA-type key fobs that have the little LCD that displays a new "passcode" every minute should be universal by now... I love those things. Banks should issue them to everyone, employers should issue them to everyone... C'mon this technology has been in active use for at least 15 years now...it should be cheap and everyone should use it.
When they both come down, one will have a beard and one will not. The one with the beard must not be allowed to go anywhere near any old volcano islands.
I remember hearing about this "Windows" thing back in the early part of this century and that it and another OS called "OS/2" were once competitors. I like antique software. It shows our humble beginnings.
Finally! The US government is putting technology to work for good in scanning flowers...I can only assume that it will be used for public art displays? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iris_(plant)
I predict that at the end of next month, little Debbie Povunktuk will be recorded as eating 500,000 calories all in mashed potatoes.
C'mon... kids that age share all sorts of things... they won't understand that sharing their secret PIN is wrong. Mainly because their mom&dad said to report anyone that tells them "it'll be our little secret"
Read the story?!? haha... I was too busy wanting to get first post
oh and by the way... Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny? NOT REAL!
30km up is NOT SPACE. 100km up is space. wake me up when someone gets a balloon up that far.
turn off Javascript, then it works
or go to Reddit
1, 2, 3, 4 ... then 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 1+3=4 ... pretty soon you'd get the pattern and figure out those are numbers.
No, 1+1=10, 1+10=11, 1+11=100
what kind of strange world do you live in.

oh wait... that's their OTHER plan.

"elfreeo" only applies to binaries in ELF format. Good old a.out format is still "gratis"
I LOL-ed when I read in the article that the satellite is now "fully functional"
Just like Commander Data.
I am Shirly, and don't call me Sirius.
As an amateur astronomy buff, I would agree with you. Sirius certainly is a dog star. But, since dyslexics worship it, you might want to calm down.
Well done sir.

By that guy's standards, we are all "quiche eaters." Not a single one of us uses an 029 keypunch to enter Fortran any more.
Pascal was, and is, a good teaching language.
Perhaps not, but I still weekly use a paper tape to bootstrap an old PDP-11 to play games.
I hope this doesn't cause a slashdotting of the Herzberg Institute, but...

Mod parent up! it's so unlikely, it MUST be true.

yeah, I kinda figured that out
