I REALLY liked it when windows decided it wanted to run away with (one, just one) of my CPU's on my nice P2 400x2 machine. I tought it right quick -- kill -9 vmware fixed it right nicely.
From any computer system I run. This is just totally fscking insane. I am in complete shock. I'm going to go out and buy a copy of vmware to keep microsoft where it belongs.
Um, me thinks/dev entries are just not there --- A friend of mine did this with his gus, playing two mp3's at the same time, on the different devices -/dev/dsp0 (/dev/dsp) and/dev/dsp1. (this was under 2.0.3x) Just run MAKEDEV audio in/dev (I think it's audio, check the script) and it'll make your dev entries.
(I would figure out what the script command line is, but....well, I'm stuck behind a badly braindammaged windowing system, e.g. Microsoft Windows.)
It may be a "good" idea next time to post a link instead of doing 'Edit -> View Source' and selecting then pasting....makes me wonder if there is/should be a comment byte limit.:)
I can just see this -- Some company out there will make Terminators -- except that they won't have metal for skeleton, they'll have real, honest to god FLESH...they'll be able to infiltrate any organization, pass any security checkpoint..they will be invisible..they will be us..we will be them....they will rebel against us..there will be a big war..... oh the humanity!..er inhumanity!!!
Ok, it's official. linuxhq has been /.'ed.

Netscape reports to me --"55% of 8k at 8k (stalled)"
I see mindcraft trying to pull itself out of the ditch it threw itself into by strutting it's stuff about NT beating the pants off of Linux, but I have a comment:
They documented that they did some serious tweaking of the NT server, even so beyond what microsoft suggests for reliabilty. They had to get that information from somewhere, they probally had a MS tech either over their shoulder or on the phone telling them to apply this reg tweak, apply this patch to bind the nic's to each CPU....
Why can't we do the same for linux? Why can't Linus and have direct access to the server that they're supposed to be helping on?
They must be trying very hard to "proove" that NT is "better" then Linux.

I wouldn't be suprised of articles come out with those titles. If nintendo thinks that they can just bully around people who are good programmers, then I think we need to boycott nintendo. 'nuff said.

I personally JUST went to the FM page to see what all the fuss is about-- I saw the new page and the first thought I had was, "This kinda reminds me of a Macintosh, but what hey, it looks pretty cool with the little icons on the bottom of the section for posting."
I can admit that I at first didn't like the new order of the site, but further reading on and noticing that scoopadded in a better search engine the only thought I has was "cool."
I wish to personally apologise to scoop, but I have no e-mail address at the moment, so Scoop- if you just happen to read this,
You do good work, and personally I wish you the best. I read freshmeat every day, because freshmeat is such a help to those of us who use Linux at home (and in the work force when our superiors don't make us infect Poor Erwin with NT. and please, please, please bring freshmeat back.

I just got a black and white quickcam for free, and so far, I've gotten w3cam to somehow work with v4l and give me a completely BLACK image.
I've got no clue. Someone, PLEASE post to this.
