Bio Degradable does not mean *AFTER A SINGLE RAINSTORM* that it will melt like the evil witch of the west in the Oz.
Come on people. There are plastic bags that are bio degradable. It takes MONTHS, even YEARS for it to happen. Get a grip, and sit the fsck down.
Myself and a cow-orker needed to write a web-based survey in perl, after one previously written bombed out, and didn't provide enough reporting information-
We both sat down, and planned it out, and then along the way, one would ask the other, "Would it be better do to it this way" -- and in the end, we had a very nice survey application I *would* have released under GPL, but the company owned it. (I have since left the company, and the company went belly up)
that they've just sealed their fate. The internt routes around cencorship like dammage. Now there will be warez olympics videos all over. Can't people learn that *people* aren't honest? There's no way that they can prevent it from happening. Metallica mp3's are still on napster, Gnutella is still up and running (not at the best performance, but still) and there is no way *anyone* can get at the "underground" warez archives.
I'm gonna need something like a 1ru style case, and get a decent sound card that can do digital out, so I can pipe it into the coaxial input of my reciever. That, and It'll need a remote, and buttons on the front w/ a volume control. Anyone have *any* idea how to get a volume knob to tweak software? I've been thinking of hacking up a netwinder for it's size, but I may end up using a small x86 box. 486 or so, since that seems to decode mp3's well enough

They had a kid sitting in a lazyboy chair, w/ a pair of speakers (small ones) on his left and right. He was playing Tony Hawk on a PSX-- the interesting thing was he was wearing a skull cap, and the PSX joypad was custom wired into a PC w/ a 25 pin multi-colored ribbon cable. Then they watched the reports from the skull cap on a bunch of monitors showing graphs... all under Windows. Interesting sight on the NASA Channel here on cox cable.
Da**it! I have the model 150 on my wrist right now. it's the best watch I've ever had w/ 5 alarms. that and I love telling people I download programs to my watch. The only problem is this word in gold lettering at the bottom...
A cow-orker of mine bought the geneca(sp?) $99 mp3 player - it has no text display of the files in the cd at all it shows track numbers, and if I remember correctly, it can only go upto 999 songs per disk. He also could not play mp3's that were anything other the 441khz, 16bit, stereo. This is bad becuase he had old recordings of radio shows. The mambo-x seems _much_ better, with a wireless remote, text display (afaik) and has an equilizer. I'd buy one, but they're all out of stock _everywhere_. Repeated requests to see of the mambox has the same problem as the geneca player have gone un-answered.
You need to get your kids started in LOGO. Yes, the little turtle who leaves lines on the screen -- Visualization is key. Let them figure out that they can create interesting drawings with a simple loop. Logo was what got me started in programming. I had a 5.25 floppy disk FULL of logo programs. Geez.. those were the days...
Those of us in the Linux community prefer not to use windows, because it is a very unstable environment, and is not repairable by those who would be able to repair it. In Linux, if something breaks, you can fix it.
If you want something to work, and you have the know how, you can do it.
I want to play my DVD's in Linux with the hardware I/already/ paid for that/already/ works. I want to/view/ my movies I already paid for. I have the/right/ to view my movies I/paid/ for.
I can play the movie in any operating system I choose, as long as there is software / hardware to do so with. In Linux, there was no software, so Derek Fawcus took the inititative no one else would. He did the right thing, and brought DVD to Linux.
For free.
CD's can be copied, Tapes can be duped, locks can be picked. Locks are meant to deter "honest" people. Locks never have and never will keep out the un-honest people. It'll just never happen.
90% of the earth's population is honest people. By encrypting the MPEG stream on the DVD you alienated your honest people, and made it impossible for them to play their DVD's.
It's the girls -- they don't give it up anymore. OTOH, there are a lot of guys my age (late teen to early twenties) who *ahem* haven't.. um.. "gotten any".I think the main reason is because my age group (most, but definitly not all, I've seen proof.. pregnant teens and teen mothers taking their child to school) have matured mentally. We understand that it's a serious task to bring a child into this world, and IMHO, I'd rather not bring a child into the world if I can not take care of it and provide for it with the best of my ability and still live comfortably, and provide for myself. Mainly, the girls just don't give it up as easy... either that or I'm butt-U-G-L-Y....NOT

The moderators out there are _SO_ picky! Jeeze!! I'm trynig to go from a -2 karma to a ZERO karma _JUST SO I CAN SEE THE METAMOD PAGE_ and everyone keeps moderating my posts!! Jesus! so I guess I won't post anymore. I guess that'll make _SOMEONE_ happy.
Microsoft has dipped their toes in another odd place where it shouldn't have. Microsoft is spreading itself all over, and now it's reaching not only into our homes, but into our schools. Students will be reading their textbooks from a small electronic "book", run by Microsoft's software 'Read'. Microsoft is dominating the market not too unlinke the Borg on Star Trek: The Next Generation. They are doing a lot, without a lot of quality. If we let this continue, when microsoft finally dies, the world will crumble to it's knees, because all the software that they used to love, now is defunct.
Rob, I thought that you had a list of 'authors' in backslash who were currently logged in -- specifically designed to prevent this... oh, and btw, how's 0.4? (not to be expecting it anytime soon if 0.4 is gonna include this awesome moderation scheme)

Why should the audio be resampled and converted? There was a reason it was encoded at a low hz and bitrate.

Looking glass apparently used linux to develop their master of SS2-- you can see in the iso9660 headers, 'MKISOFS', and 'LINUX'. I'm glad to see that.

I just downloaded the css decryption program and didn't like how the audio got out of sync with the video (on my dual PII 400).

Just my 2c.
Next up: Disney will be suing these folks for copyright infringement. I want a jet pack. Just imagine: when your boss is about to give you a big, long, and tedious project, you can literally 'jet' out of harms way. The only problem is though, you'd have to watch out for the ceiling tiles, and then carry a fire extinguisher around with you. Even if you didn't start a fire, you could taunt all your evil Catbert© hired co-workers. :)
Port 113 is reserved for the autb protocol.. I don't see why someone'd want to 'auth' a DC... I could just see it returning 'Sonic' :)
I wanna know when nasa will start selling 'The Force' (tm) in little red or blue pills that I can take... no wait, that was the matrix.. :)
